I was also really happy with Autoglym, once upon a time. The depth was just never there though; Oh, and it doesn't help that it washed away so quickly. $50.00 per box of Wax? Nah, I could get a couple of bottles of Zaino Z-5 or Meguiars M105 and M205 for that price.
I would appreciate it, as I am going to do this to my car asap. I'm blown away by the shine of your car man!

I ended up giving half the container of Autoglym HD Wax away to one of my co-workers. I loved using it in the beginning, but after I started learning about benefits of other products out there. I had to make the move to Zaino. Although it may not seem like it, this is my first time using a swirl remover and a PC 7424XP with an agressive compound such as Meg's 105.

Great question about durability...it rained 2 days after my 2 coats of Z5 and it is still raining right now. The car sat in the rain last night for a few hours and has been in the rain for a good part of the day today.
After coming home last night from an hour of driving in the rain of course the water had beaded right on the paint. Woke up this morning and noticed that there were no water spots at all on the car, anywhere, any panel where I applied polish, I didn't see any spots, was very impressed with the results!

Only areas that had water spots were the vinyl stripes. I did apply Z-CS (Sealant) though, maybe thats the reason its so durable right now.

The shine lasts a VERY long time; Being a hobby though, I'll do the polishing as often as I can, probably twice a month sometimes many more. It won't take very long, now that I've done all the swirl removing and paint protection for the year thanks to Meguiar's, all I need to do is layer on the polish. Applying Zaino Z5 takes about a 30 mins to 45 mins, not including a wash.

How many washes would it last?
I wash my car atleast once a week, everytime I dry it up, it looks like it was freshly polished. Literally. I'd say the polish would last atleast a month or two, depending on how often you wash it.

As for your question about the once a year detail.
Heres what I do once a year with my daily driven Stang. I do atleast 25,000km a year on this, she sits at 80,000km now.

Spring Time Annual Detail

Car wash - Zaino Z7 (Or your preferred brand)
2 bucket wash with a Gritguard x2, wash the car down, make multiple passes over panels.
I did it one more time for kicks.

Claybar - Zaino - Chemical Guys Purple - Riccardo's Blue
I've never had my clay come out really nasty, never did find a need to do it more than once a year, benefits of keeping the car clean on the regular I suppose. Important to have a good clay lube, I have no interest in paying $21 for Clay lube, I used two ounces of Zaino Z7 car wash in a 16oz bottle shook it up, made great clay lube.

Dawn Wash - Dawn Ultra Original - 3oz per Gallon was good enough for me
Another 2 bucket car wash (Can use one since the car is clean already)
The purpose of Dawn was to strip away all the old wax/previous polishes, etc. I lot of people complain about using Dawn on the car, but they need to understand that there are no issues with using such product once or twice a year, I wouldn't personally use it as a regular car wash, but there are several people that do.

Meguiar's 105 Compound paired with a Lake Country Orange Cutting Pad using a Porter Cable 7424XP
Things Needed:
7am - 3pm - Coffee
3pm - 12am - Rum and Coke / Jack and Coke

This is where the hard work comes in, you've done all the prep work to get here. Get some good buffing towels, something you can sit down on and polish the lower areas, your back will be toast. Had to watch several videos to get this down perfectly and came out really well. Spot lights / 1000W Lamps are great for this because I found that I had missed a few spots on my trunk and had to do quite a number of passes to get the swirls out.
3-5 Buffings Towels handy - Its hard to remove.

Meguiar's 205 Finishing Polish paired with a Lake Country White Light Cutting Pad using a Porter Cable 7424XP
7am - 3pm - Coffee
3pm - 12am - Rum and Coke / Jack and Coke

Much easier to apply and remove than 105 - This light abrasive will clear up the lighter swirls and minor scratches you missed.
My god the durability on this sucks, it rained the next day and car the water just bonded to the paint as if there was no polish on the car. Need not worry about this as this was only the entry level base coats to clear up the scratches and swirls after 70,000km of driving and a California Duster (Sorry CD Lovers)

Now the annual Spring Prep has been completed, until next year. I've put the M105, M205, Clay and Dawn away for the year, will bring it all out next year.
I'm going to be doing work on a Fusion in the upcoming weeks thats probably never seen clay or polish - Also will be working on a 2010 Black Honda CRV thats crying for help. I hope to get this all together and get a bit more practice and potentially put some detailing packages together in the near future.

As I've said before, I love helping people out so if you need help or tips, shoot me a PM or reply here and I'll do my best to get back to you.

You are the man! Thanks a bunch, and yeah I know what you mean about getting the swirl marks out. The best investment I made, as far as tools for getting rid of the swirl marks, was a very good lighting set up. The first time I did it on my 2010 it looked awesome in the garage, with just the ceiling lighting, but when I pulled it outside, it was like a kick in the bag. All that hard work for nothing.....I mean yeah it looked better then before, but in the sunlight you could see all kinds of things that weren't visible in the garage. On my 2012, I purchased some light stands with some serious lighting, and was able to get them all out. The compound I used at that time was Meguiars Ultimate compound, and it worked ok, but lots of work to get them all, and several passes, as I didn't want to rush it and go too deep.
Anyway, thanks again man, and I'll post some pics once I'm able to complete this on my baby.

Last year I was VERY intimidated by going with one of the highest cut compounds out there, Meguiar's 105 Compound...especially with a cutting pad and a Porter Cable.

Good ol Junk Man taught me differently...very differently, had to watch this to change my mind, the reason I picked up the PC 7424XP + Meg's 105. He has A LOT of GREAT videos as well. Hope it helps, I know it did for me.

Wow all I've ever used is a Makita and it can be a little nerve racking but this looks like a great setup.

Very, very nice job! You have a very sweet ride.

You'll notice that the Zaino will last and protect the paint like no other.
Also, when you get bug splatter you'll be able to just wipe them away with just a wash mit.
