Wax then sealant

I have read that before waxing you should do a sealant.. I put on a coat of wax (NXT) and then I put on a coat of sealant. I was now going to add a coat of carnuba wax. Will putting the wax on before the sealant make any difference in shine and protection?

Don't know if I'd be mixing and matching with carnuba and NXT and sealant. Somebody else who's a little more in the know might throw in their two cents, but I'd use the keep-it-simple solution and just go with a wax you're happy with. Too much hocus pocus with the paint could make things look worse than better. What sort of sealant are you using ?

like others have said,a high quality wax should do,otherwise your staking coat over coat over coat on your paint.

The sealant I used is called Pro-Tech Seal, Pearl Express sealant. I got it from a detailing shop and they said it was the best they had for new paint.

I was thinking that coat of good quality wax over the other stuff I have already applied will protect and add a deep shine to what is there now. I don't think that a coat of carnuba wax will damage anything will it? I want the stang to sparkle when I take it out of the garage come spring time!

I actually look forward to giving mine the first detail when spring rolls around. I have bought a Porter Cable and some Auto Glym Polish and Mothers synwax and am going to make her sparkle. Mine is covered but it will still get dust etc. Unless you want to keep spray detailing her good luck keeping it clean.

Try Meguairs Ultimate Wax...has a combination of wax and sealant. Works well on all colors except black.

I just read on another forum that NXT Wax is actually a sealant but is called a "wax" and not a sealant for less consumer confusion and loss of market share from people looking for a wax and not buying it because it is called a sealant.
So all in all....I guess I have only applied two different coats of sealants on my car! I was just in the garage....it sure has a nice shine.....every day is getting closer to spring

How far is Nelson from West Kelowna. When spring arrives we should meet up.
