What do you guys do with your buffing/polishing pads after use?

What's best to clean them and how do you store them?

Buy new ones. I don't find they clean up properly especially the foam ones.

 

1. Get a bucket with a lid.
2. Put some mild liquid detergent in it such as Zero (By Woolite) or even better yet, a Microfiber/foam detergent such as Micro-Restore,

3. While under water massage the pads by hand or place several pads in the bucket and put the lid on, now shake the hell out of it
4. Now under running water massage them until water runs clear OR in another bucket containing only water, place the lid on it and shake.

The above method gets the pads the cleanest. I have pads that are 2 years old and still work like new. The second way is simply put them in a washing machine. This method however does NOT clean the pads all the way through; hand massaging is the only way.

Your pads WILL keep colors of polishes/swirl removers. They are stained and will not affect their performance.

Yes, it works great. It is a low sudsing detergent. It wont leave the pads full of suds that are hard to rinse.

Chris, I just thought I'd chime in and let everyone know that I've had great luck cleaning my pads in the washing machine. Easy and almost effortless!!!

Paul, I used to do it that way also. Next time you pull them out of the machine wring them out and you will see there is still polish in the center of the pad. It works but just doesnt get them as good as hand washing.
