what's the best wax you use or heard about?

for myself i like mothes or megular wax and glaze ,but i heard of zaino wax that is very expensive but have a speciale wax that you can overlayer over the wax and give you a deeper shine ,have anyone try it??

gfong 04-25-2009 05:36 PM

I am very happy with Mother's Reflections series. I use their wax and follow it up with their TopCoat. It is easy to apply and gives a deep shine.

That's what I use on all my cars and have not seen much better, I used to detail cars while in university and I have seen a lot of products with a bunch of claims and I stick with Mothers

1low03gt 04-25-2009 09:38 PM

yea it really works I'm part of the KW mustang club and a lot of members use the ICE products and the cars range from fox body's to 98 mustang's to cobras and everyone likes it and still the same shine (looks like glass!)

silverbullet 04-26-2009 02:17 PM

I heard it is hard to get off because it is clear? Whats' it like?

Big House 04-28-2009 08:00 AM

Used it before. Best part of ice is no white buildup in little cracks that you have to use a toothpick to get out.

Just done the zaino this weekend, claybar, 1 coat z6, and 4 coats of z5. Looks and feels like a mirror. Zaino is for the the serious detailer and takes time but the results are amazing. Zaino is a polish and not a wax. Most waxes have some petroleum products in them and if you have vinyl stipes on your car it is really hard on them. Zaino has not petroleum products in it. Never leaves white film on rubbers . :tup

I tried the ice and on my Black Stang it was terrible
I also tried Mothers and was not happy wit the results
I tried Meguairs Tech Wax 2.0 and have been using it for years now
Lasts quite a long time...Easy on and easy off
And in between waxes I use the Meguairs Ultimate Quick Detailer and that works awesome as well...

I heard of this, if you ever run out they will send you another one for free. it better be good for the price.

Ray Spencer 06-06-2009 08:47 AM

Meguair's what else?

I use Meguair's Car Wash, Meguair's Wash Mitts, Meguair's Drying Towels to dry the stang, Meguair's Microfiber Towels for wax removal and shine,Meguair's Clay Bar Kit and Meguair's NXT 2.0 Tech Wax. The only time I step out of this group is for Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover.

Meguires Gold Class over the NXT......tried the NXT, but preferred the Gold Class. Detailing stuff is like picking a favorite beer...there's lots to choose from, yah just gotta find the one yah like the best. Personal taste....

i like the Meguair's NXT Generation 2.0 Tech Wax. But my dad prefers Zymol. . . same makers as that elpensive bottle lol

mustang_fr500 06-10-2009 11:56 PM

I used ice on my car and I would not recommend it. I had a hell of a time getting it off and that was in the shade. The shine wasn't very good either. I will be using meguire's probably from now on.

I use Meguiars but been wanting to try Zaino fo a while now.....hmmmm....

bman_t3@hotmail.com 03-16-2014 06:16 PM

Mothers, Meguiars ( on certain applications and certain products, Not all of which are top notch off the shelf) Most from Chemical guys, and autoglym. Used to be a turtle wax guy since that was the first compound, and wash wax stuff I used. It is total preference and skill level or desire. I'll post the link to a comparison video I found on youtube.
just to cover a few.
I just bought 50/50 so i have yet to try it out after the snow has melted and roads de-slushed

freddrick 09-12-2014 01:38 PM

Have any of you guys tryed that Megular black wax if you have what do you think.

bman_t3@hotmail.com 12-12-2014 01:19 AM

Meg's all the way, mothers for maintenance or less than my extremist methods. Or Chemical guys. Meg's and CG make the very best duo. I am confident I could get lot's of attention at a show, maybe even consideration for a concours show. If not then Majestic's Car show :) gotta strive to arrive

Ray Spencer 12-12-2014 10:15 AM

I use Meguiar's Ultimate Wax. This kit comes with a black microfiber towel to remove the dried wax. Then after the wax is removed follow through with a second micorfiber towel to bring out the shine. A coat of Meguiar's Polish before the Ultimate Wax application really enhances the shine.

I just bought a newer to me 2007 GT. I will be trying Chemical Guys Butter polish and wax on the GT in the new year.
