When to wax new paint?

I'm having my car painted and I was told I have to wait 30 days before waxing it, anyone else heard of this? The car is being done in base/clear and will be baked, I will be driving to Grand Bend Sept. 15th for a local drag race and I don't want to drive for 2+ hours with no protection on my finish. My painter says I should be fine using the "quick detailer" spray and wipe stuff, personally I prefer Zaino anb I don't think they make the spray and wipe stuff, any help is appreciated. :teeth:

Ya they are telling me kinda the same thing. From what I've been hearing, the paint is still too soft and hasen't set up or fully cured and hardend yet. I am also get the car sprayed and have heard not to do anything other then wash it for 3 to 6 months and not to cover it for long term storage (30 days or longer) this winter as the paint is still to soft and could pick up and set the fabric lines in the paint. I don't like the thought of painting the car and then storing it without a cover though. :2:

So then I should be safe waxing it the day before the day I leave for the track? which would be the 14th of September. I appreciate all the help guys, I just don't wanna waste my money on a paint job only to damage the finish by prematurely waxing it, but I also don't want bugs and stuff hitting my recent paint job and damaging it.

^Thanks for the info, I'm still waiting for the car and i'm starting to get a little peeved. I'm probably just going to use spray and wipe wax as previously suggested just to be safe. I also used to work as an auto detailer years ago and would trust myself doing it much more than someone else. :teeth:
