Where to get plastic shaker tubes chromed?

I am going to purchase another shaker tube for my Mach1. I want to get it chrome plated for car shows. It is easily switched out if I did not want it on all the time.

Anyone know of any businesses that can chrome plate plastic to a show quality shine?

Thanks.

Here is what I hope to end up with:

Might want to send Scott01Cobra a PM...he had a few parts of his engine bay done with that process.

Meister may know where he got it done too. :tup

My buddy just had some stuff done by a place called PLastic-Chrome or somethig like that, but I wasn't imp[ressed witht he work, there were scratched on the surface and it was applied thin in a few spots, from a distance it looks good though. Like I said in my other post we will be able to do this soon, still have to talk with the bank about funding for the machine.

Rather deal with Candian company as too much can go wrong with it being that it is plastic. Being in Ontario and having lots of resources I want to keep it here.

If anything did go wrong it is a hassle for shipping back and forth etc. As far as his I have he even admits that there is no longevity to the stuff he uses for plastic. I will investigate as I so not want topay for this and it start flaking and scratches easy.

The process I used for my firewall (as well as my hood hinges and prop rod brackets) is called Vacuum metalizing.

It is extremely cheap to get done ... (compared to chrome).

However ...... you should NOT do this on anything that will take even the slightest abuse. On plastic it scratches off extremely easily. On metal is does not because they can bake it.

I got mine done in Scarborough.

telephone # is 416-754-3377 - EXTENSION 111 - his name is GUY. Very nice guy.

For all the parts I paid $50.00. not kidding.

good news, we got our business loan and we will be getting our chroming system soon, just have to order it now. OUr system is not vacuum chroming though, its way more durable then that, as soon as we get it we will be doing some test pieces to show everyone.

thanks, hopefully it turns out as good as we hope.

We are going to use a 3G alternator and the trophy pistons from the V6 Ford Challenge events as our test pieces. I am also getting a set of rims for my Mazda that we will test chrome, pics will be posted as we progress, but it will still be a few weeks at least before we get the machine.

the test pieces will be so we can practice using the equipment, that way if anything goes wrong its only on pieces for us, but if your interested in sending us your piece to test it out on the plastic I am sure we could work something out, send me an email v6sprout@gmail.com We will be looking for cars to start workingon very soon and to help us get our name out there and display stuff we have done.

Right on, I will keep in touch. I am ordering from Ford the stock replacement piece so that it has no oils or anything on it to use for the chroming. Thanks again.
