Your First car

I was 15 and my neighbour told me about an old man that wanted to sell his car. It was a 1938 Chev. I bought the car for 75$ and we brought it home to my neighbours place. I was afraid to take it home because my mother would go crazy on me. At my neighbours we cut the front fenders off and would rip up and down the road with it. My parents finally figured it out and I brought the car home. I painted it robin egg blue with white rims, threw the hub caps away and cut off the muffler and tail pipe.I painted the name on the car "Fridays Child". We had a lot of fun with the car , my brother and my friends cruising around the township. I finally broke the axle and the car was done, I tore it apart and sold it for scrap.. Next I bought a '35 Ford with no motor, got a motor from the auto wrecker and eventually got the original motor from the guy who had removed it. When I was 17 my Dad bought me a car, a 1963 Mercury Montcalm convertible. I loved that car , grew up with it and rue the day I sold it. I always wanted another convertible and one day on Kijiji I saw a Mustang convertible cheap. I called and went to see the car, it was dirty, covered in bird droppings but the guy wanted to sell it and I took a chance. I brought it home and washed it, what an improvement, I washed it again and took a buffer and waxed it, it just kept looking better and better. I have had this sn95 for about five years, updated the wheels with bullet wheels , added fog lights and strut tower brace, had the rear quarters painted and the car looks amazing, what a fun car without a big investment, love my Mustang !

My first car was a Black 1954 VW bug, small back window, flipper turn signals on the B post, 30 screamin horsepower. My Dad gave it to me in 1969, I fixed it up and when I sold it in 1972, it had 262,000 miles on it with a 40 HP 1200 cc engine. Got $350 for it. Dad paid $695 in 1959. Lousy heater, but would start at 40 below zero. Good car to learn on.

1990 Cavalier RS. It was a 2 door w/ 3.1 v6 auto. I got my license in 96 so the car was fairly new but my parents wanted me to have something pretty reliable and loaned me the money to buy it. I had half down but it took forever to pay them back because, although I really did love the car, it was the worst vehicle I’ve ever owned. I poured piles of money into it and in 2 years it was in the shop constantly and needed:

ECM
IAC
EGR
TCC Solenoid (trans had to come out)
muffler
ball joints
brakes

When the engine went at 80,000 km it was time to fix it and move on. I sold it not long after having the engine rebuilt and never looked back.

Mine was a '77 Nova, but it was a two door, with the rock solid inline 6, 250 cid.

One of the best cars I ever owned, easy to work on and super dependable, not the fastest, but damn I loved everything about that car.

My first car was a 49 Pontiac torpedo back, 35 bucks in 1958, worth 35 bucks today.
First bike was a Vincent Black Shadow, 300 bucks in 1957 , worth $150,000 today.
Shoulda kept one of them.
