Has anyone ever polished their engine to get those little white fluffies off in the sprintime? How much grinding or sand papering do you have to do? I understand it is a lot of hard work but also well worth it.

 

What part of the engine? White fluffies? More details.

 

#1 rule when polishing, knuckle children arent a form of polish and if not quickly cleaned off of the surface after ejaculation, it will dry into as you say "fluffies". so what this means is just because you have a sexy motor does not mean you have to spooge all over it...then try to cover it up, trust me i know from experience with my cobra motor and its sexy cobra decal on the intake. :biggrin:

do you mean the sort of corosion that forums over the winter? Looks like white spots?

 

Yes it is a form of corrosion. It forms on all the alum parts under the hood over the winter when the car is in storage. I put arm and hammer baking soda inside the car for mosture but never thought of under the hood.You can just sort of brush them off but the alternator, heads, block and throttle body will remain dull. I would like to polish them similar to what you can do with brake calibers. I know there is some grinding with a polishing wheel involved but is there also some sort of compound you can use and what is the actual procedure. I saw a mustang in Carlisle last year looked great but never found the driver to ask how they did it?

hey my buddy has spent 600 hours polishing the alum on his engine here is a pic if your at performance world this weekend his car will be there

 

Thats what I m talking about. I mean maybe just one part or section at a time but eventually getting it all done. Lot of work but it looks great.

Most metal Polishes with chemical cleaners will remove the spots you are talking about. Also a claybar will help too. To prevent this apply a good paint sealer (Not a carnauba or organic wax) to the parts this will prevent this in the future.
