Can you get a lot fo HP and Performance..Is this Possible?

Hey guys jus wanted to see ur views on this opinion a buddy of mine has! He bought a used 2003 V6 and apparantly it had some work already done to it. Oh and the exhaust makes absolutly no roar/noise but he claims its a true dual with either H or X pipe...hmm..I have H and mine is loud..anyways he also claimed to have bought cheaper supercharger on ebay (less than $300) and that it drastically increased power?

"From what I've heard, even the top K&N packages don't boost us more than a few horse - five I think. There is another turbonator product that replaces your intake totally with a mechanical suction vaccuum that boosts another 40 or 50 - kinda like a cheap supercharger - kinda like what i have in my GRAY AND FASTER car. I forget the exact product name but I can find out and let you know if you want ..."

I told him it would cost thousands to get a real supercharger that would even add decent HP but he disagreed and stated:

I don't know for sure all of the improvements that were made to mine over time. I do know about the following:

- dual exhaust system (cat-back / X or H i don't know) which is supposed to boost 20-30 HP;
- underpulley system at the front of the engine block that is supposed to decrease juice required for accessories and give engine an additional 15 HP to driving;
- diablo performance chip (i think its called X4 but can't say 4 sure) removes all governing ... this has something to do with top end speed as well as fuel flow at high RPMs;
- something to do with the "differential" to cause both wheels to spin as one (which really makes the traction control SUCK);

k, then what I had done;

- intake air thermostat tuner which allows me to tell the engine the temperature of the air coming in advancing or slowing the firing timing ... now this is supposed to boost me by 30 HP but i don't think it is all that good ... it does make a difference but its a tuner, not a booster so more isn't always better ... definitely improves performance but requires a feeling for the car in order to use properly ... also helps with mileage ...

- three "spinners" in the air intake line ... these are big metal rings with teeth that cause the air to spin and spin and spin on its way into the throttle body ... this advertises as much as 20 HP per ring and I have three ... MAJOR PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT and EVEN MORE when combined with the tuner ... when I tell the engine to advance the timing, it takes in more air than it really should, which spins it up and shoves it into the throttle body ... ergo a cheap supercharge ... in total, i would say worth about 60 HP total ...

now, i know that dude before me had something done to engine block at same time as the underpulley system but i am not sure how it is supposed to affect performance ... he raised the top part of the engine and put some metal thingy inbetwen the pipe-like things on the top of the engine and the block itself ... a friend of mine thinks he bored out the block but why the hell would he do that and not just buy the bigger engine ...

i don't know

what i do know is that when timed properly (tuner), at 5000rpm in 3rd gear i am over 140; at 5000 rpm in 4th gear i am at 180; and i have never gone over 3500 in 5th but i have been clocked at 242 and felt like i had plenty to go ...

the lower end isn't as good when it comes to speed to rpm; for example, it is really easy to hit the red line in 1st and 2nd; however, in 2nd gear, i hit 80km/hr before i hit the red line ...

your car is probably much better in the low end because you only have four gears so you would probably hit 110 or more in 2nd - less changing is faster in the low end ...

any calculation of HP was based on the graph that they had when i first got it and then an addition of the advertised value - less what i think was false advertising lol ...

being that the base is just under 200, if you add it up, i should be around 330-340 but i don't think it is nearly that high - i estimate around 300 based on performance compared with other cars with similar power ... a lot of these products give far less improvement than they advertise ...

HOWEVER, some of them really work well when combined ...

with respect to other cars (and don't ask how i know this lol):

i can destroy a police package impala - low and top ends as well as low end maneuverability ...

i kill the police package chargers (with the 5.2 HEMI) in the low end but around the 80km / 100km mark, they destroy me - they are also very maneuverable in the low end ... those HEMI engines are amazing at top end - they even smoke the police interceptor over the 120 mark ... but they are very sluggish to get going ...

the police interceptors beat me in the low end, but i can keep pace in the high end up to about 180, then they kill me again - but they are very clumsy and difficult to maneuver ...

the police package intrepid is a piece of - a little faster than the impala in the low end but i still kill it all around ..."

hmm....

Ok the post was a bit hard to follow but...

Dual exhaust will maybe get him 5-10hp

Underdrive pullies maybe 5-10 again.

Diablo chip, if it's just a generic chip, maybe another 10.

If he just got a t-loc in the differential and no gears he's not really going to see any gains as there should be no traction issues with that V6 anyways with decent tires

The "intake air thermostat tuner" will sometimes do more harm than good. It fools the computer into thinking there's cooler air coming in and advances the timing. This isn't always a good thing.

The spinners... do absolutely NOTHING at all. Any gain is in his head, not in the car. He wasted his money on them and somebody is laughing right now.

If he thinks he's at 300+hp, let him come run with my Cobra.

Your friend bought into every gimmick in the book.

exactly what flynnt said.

Most of that stuff is a gimmick. ESP the electric turbonator, and the things that "spin" the air. it will stop spinning once it hits the intake.

only things that might help would be the exhaust, underdrive pulleys and diablo tune.

Is this post for real or are you pulling our legs?

Seriously, that's messed up! It's so wrong I'm not even laughing.

As well as what others have already stated....which is completely obvious....is that what speed you're at in whatever gear has NOTHING to do with how much (or how little) power you have. It's called gear ratio. You're RPM's will be at the same MPH no matter how much power you have.

This can't be real.
