I'm New

Hi, I'm new and was wondering if someone may be able to help me? I have 1991 Ford Mustang LX 2.3L. My RPM gauge drops while driving, the engine lights comes on and won't go above 2000 RPM and I lose a little bit of power. I've taken it to the mechanic and even he is not sure what the problem is. He ran a diagnostic with the key on, engine on. Also ran key on, engine off. No codes displayed. It may be a censor but I'm not sure. any suggestions? Thanks!!

Welcome to the club, sounds like alternator to me but I'm no expert, one of the fox guru's should be a round soon to help out hopefully.
