Question about the MAP Sensor

Question about the MAP Sensor
Was just wondering if the area circled in red is the MAP Sensor? The mechanic said it was but I am not too sure myself and just feel the need to double check. The yellow arrow is pointing to what appears to be an air intake port. When the engine was running and this sensor was disconnected the engine kept running. This had the mechanic confused, said that the motor should have died right away. He could also not locate an air line that would connect to the air intake port. Can someone let me know if I am completely out to lunch or if there is something seriously wrong with this engine.
Thanks
Keith

Im not sure the picture is very dark? Is there a vacuum hose going to it? If so well then it probly is.
If I remember correctly the engine will stay running when unplugged....its been awhile since ive worked on a MAP car.

There looks to be a connection for a vacuum hose however there is not one attached, there is a light grey colored cap with a hole in it covering what appears to be an air / vacuum hose connection. I have slowly been getting new parts to attempt to improve the gas mileage, plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, MAF, and most recently a new set of ignition coil packs. I know that taking lots of short trips as I tend to do is not the best for fuel mileage but I still would like to see more than 250 km to a tank :-( .
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
