will glasspacks pass safety in ontario?

just wondering if anybody knows whether glasspack mufflers(cherrybombs) will pass safety in ontario and if not anyone in the niagara region got a cheap muffler for a 95 sixxer? i realize that glasspacks sound like crap on a stock sixxer but they are cheap and if they pass safety at least i can hear my rpms instead of having to look at my guages.
thanks, charlie

I don't think the type of muffler would have anything to do with a safety check ... as long as a functioning, non-leaking exhaust is present on the car, it should be fine. However, that doesn't mean you might not get pulled over by an MTO car on the road if the exhaust volume is deemed excessive ... that's a whole different deal.

cheers

They will pass a safety but under the HTA are illegal. Depending on the cop if you get pulled over you my get a ticket. Now if you were in a Honda you'd get raped and a ticket.

valid point about the non leaking exhaust, i agree 100% and as far as MTO is concerned, i was pulled over a few months back for doing 113 in an 80 with my 94 5.0L that had 50 series flowmasters on it, loud enough to set off car alarms but the officer only asked if it was my car and gave me a speeding ticket.

Yes but he had the right to fine you if he chose to. One thing I hate about the muffler noise law here is that it is up to the officers discretion and there is no set limit. Also under the HTA a "straight through" muffler is illegal. Here in Ottawa I have never been hassled but all the rice drivers are.

good point, i think im just goin with oem for now cause an oem is only 50 bucks and glasspacks on a stock 3.8 sound horrible. when i do my split port swap in a month i'll redo my exhaust to sound a little better. thanks for the help guys, and if anybody wants pics of the swap i'll try to remember to take a few.
