High River Show & Shine

Sunday Sept 26th

Weather outlook looks good. Show will likely be huge again (over 1000 cars).
This year there will be activities on Saturday as well.

Anyone else going?

Most likely. Will try to get there early enough for a good spot this time instead of on the outskirts and up on the grass like last year.

Looks like Matthew's in - we try to leave Calgary by 6, park, then go for a hot breakfast. Last year the early morning was pretty cool.

Took this pic of Matthew's mystichrome termi on the drive down last year:

Believe it or not if the weather is good I will go. You guys need to leave earlier if you want to beat me as I will leave at 4am. No cars on the highway means no rock chips tehehehe

TonyDee 09-21-2010 03:19 PM

Nice place, my folks live there.

I'm not the one who asked the question there guy - you need to lighten up a bit and quit being so difficult to get along with. Lifes too short, and I forgive you for your mean spirited comment.

klaw 09-22-2010 09:10 PM

First, it wasn't a question - it was a joke reference to his very short time as Prime Minister. I'm not sure where you were or what you were doing at that time but "Joe Who?" followed by a chuckle was very common back in the day.

Second, If I actually didn't know who Joe Clark was, I certainly don't need your help with a Google or Wiki search.

Third, perhaps if you didn't feel the need to answer almost every post in almost every thread on here with some pissant comment you might find it easier to get along on here.

Here's a thought - don't bother "contributing" to threads I start on here and I won't bother to "contribute" to yours.

Wish I could go but gotta work.

I'll be at Street Machine Weekend in Lethbridge next year for sure - another great event and a little closer to you. If you haven't been to that one it's well worth the trip.

def67 09-23-2010 12:38 AM

^^ Ya Street Wheelers, I missed it this year, I heard it was pretty good.

SNAKEBITE 09-23-2010 01:26 AM

I got to get down for that one to

I thought participation on these forums is what makes them work - sorry about that. I'm also sorry my comments do not measure up to your standard, I didn't realize there was a limit to how many times you could "contribute", or that you had to be all book smart to join in. I'll "contribute" to as many threads as I like - free country dude. I'm just having a good time joking around with everyone here, but you seem to be the only one taking things a little too serious, not sure what's up with that. I'll end this here so that things don't get out of hand, and no hard feelings fella - we should go for coffee sometime and you'd find out it's not all bad out there.

NickGT 09-23-2010 07:41 AM

I'm thinking it might be nice to roll out to, but I won't be entering into the show itself guys. I'll look for you and come say hi!

Hey Paul watch out for the Deer that early in the morning. I came SO close to plowing one the other day on hwy 22x. If I was in the passenger seat, I could have reached out the window and slapped it across the face. What an eerie feeling. The stupid thing came flying out of the ditch like it was on a suicide mission but stopped just at the last second.

SNAKEBITE 09-23-2010 11:14 PM

Yeah I will be careful. Even or as weird is going to Fort Mac and seeing moose standing on the side of the highway. Hit one of those bad boys and it's pretty much over. Oh were you been hiding?

Kaisoboy 09-24-2010 01:04 AM

Was thinking of attending myself...

Hey David

Did you get that shifter boot retainer yet? I mailed it on Monday.

Man, moose and deer have got to be the scariest thing to see coming out of the brush - especially with cars as low as the Mustang. All that weight sitting at just the right height to land on the hood (if you're lucky) or worse, rolling back into the windshield. Yikes - at least if you're in a pickup you got a chance at hitting it square. I guess you fellas out west gotta be a little more careful of that than we do in Southern Ontario. Take care driving if you're heading out. Do you suppose those deer whistle's that you put on the bumper work at all? Have a great show, and someone take some pictures to share please.

Ya I got it and its installed. I'll post up a pic after work today. Thanks again!

SNAKEBITE 09-24-2010 09:42 PM

I will take pics, just a matter of posting. I figure leaving at 4ish I can travel at 90-95 which gives me more time to react.

Oh nowhere really man. The weather has been just horrible the last 2-3 weeks. I'm starting up floor hockey wednesday nights next week but I'll still swing by and say whats up if the weather picks up a bit. This summer has truly sucked ass :banghead:

SNAKEBITE 09-24-2010 11:44 PM

So very true

Apocalypse Pony 09-26-2010 04:34 AM

Hope everyone has a good time at the show today, and the weather holds, 'cause rain will get you wet. You want sun for something like this. Looking forward to seeing some pictures of those prize winning cars and all the shiny hardware. Hardware is another word for trophys. Enjoy, safe travels and watch out for deer and moose.

NickGT 09-26-2010 04:56 PM

That was the biggest show I have ever been to. Why can't they all be like that :) Unbelievable.

I helped hold down the "Park" area since the main/side streets were FULL when I got there. I registered and I was car #950. Although I'm sure they easily exceeded 1500+ cars. Since I watched convoy after convoy of different cars roll in even as I left around 2:00

Here I am holding it down :D

Thanks!

Sorry I don't have any others. There was so much to look at I forgot about my camera until I was about to leave! :banghead:

SNAKEBITE 09-26-2010 09:18 PM

Opps forgot my camera in Mootown It took me a while to get home as I was doing 95k's as opposed to 140-150 going. At that speed the car was in a nice zone sound wise. Oh at 95k my gas usage was 8.7l per 100k and the illegal speed was 12ishL per 100k tehehehe

Excellent show - weather was very nice. Didn't get many pics but did find a huge mural wall at the end of the day for an impromtu photoshoot.

Apocalypse Pony 09-27-2010 04:13 AM

Great picture (maybe not so much for the dead buffalo's, but what the hey!!) - your car is really shiny klaw. I like those badges you put on the side of the front fender - you don't see those on regular GT's, they look cool. Any hardware from the show?

Apocalypse Pony 09-27-2010 04:23 AM

Looks like you had great weather too - glad to hear the turnout was amazing, sorry I missed it. Great idea to post it up.

klaw 09-27-2010 09:05 AM

No voting at this show - it's just too big.

We talked to an old-school "Chevy" guy that just bought a 2011 GT (after test driving a Camaro). He said there was no comparison and loves the new 5.0. Was asking questions about modding etc - another convert to the blue oVal!

SNAKEBITE 09-27-2010 12:31 PM

After talking to you I went into anti social mode, did not feel well=oh well. See ya Wed

Kaisoboy 09-27-2010 01:06 PM

Well I was trying to make it to the show but got stuck working Sunday. Spent all day Saturday detailing my car then got called to head to Edmonton....Grrrrrrr....

Well it looks like Wednesday will be a good one for DFM. See you guys there.

Hey, did anyone see Ross at the show? I was trying to get a hold of him last week and left a couple of messages at his house but he never phoned back.

Wednesday looks great! I believe Ross was in Winnipeg last week getting the stripes on his Shelby fixed. I think he got back yesterday (Sunday).
