Road Trips 2013

Hey everyone out there...anyone got any leads on possible 2013 Road Trips for us Western Stangs?
Anyone want to suggest a get together for the Spring of 2013..lots of time to plan a weekend meet or drive...ie..Edmonton Raceway road course....some scenic drive..some private get together at a Ford dealership for a S&S/BBQ..??

Kojak in Saskatoon:chacha:

ChadStang 11-28-2012 09:23 PM

That's a great idea. Could meet at a show somewhere as well.

DublDee 11-29-2012 07:31 AM

Yeah with this much time to set it up, surely we can make it happen. I would be interested in a meet for sure, I gotta get some miles on the Stang next year. :tup

def67 11-29-2012 07:58 AM

Sounds like it could be a good time.

Mustang event

OK everyone we need to the word to local city types and see if there is some interest.

Secondly a place that we could all mee at with accomodations for the weekend or driving distance for a day trip.

Third..a date we can all agree to...

From Saskatoon..I like Lloydminster // Red Deer // Med Hat // Swift Current

Date wise i would go for a mid June before things get hectic with kids and holidays..

...thoughts??

ChadStang 12-09-2012 05:34 PM

For me Lloydminster or Red deer sounds ok.

def67 12-09-2012 05:43 PM

Lloydminster // Red Deer // Med Hat // Swift Current

All sound good to me but Lloyd might be a little far.

DublDee 12-09-2012 05:51 PM

Yeah I like Red Deer / Lloyd / Edm. Whatever works, and as for the date, as long as I have a bit of notice I can make it work. :tup

BBYE 12-09-2012 06:02 PM

OK looks like we are getting some interest. Now can we the word? Maybe we should say Red Deer as a first choice?
How many can we realistically think could gather? Does anyone know of a dealership in Red Deer that might let us use his parking lot for this and maybe a few games??

Looking ahead at a date, I'm thinking mid June might not be so good, with "Father's Day" and all, families may have other plans or company expected??? I know May is a bit early, and who knows what the weather will be like, but just a thought, if we're going with Red Deer, they have their annual swap meet May 3-4th. Or if we wanted to wait until the end of July, which you already mentioned might be a bit hectic with holidays and such, but there is the annual "Rockin Red Deer - Super Run" that they usually hold at the end of July/early August.
Again these are just suggestions, but we don't have to organize it around any other events, I just thought in case people were interested in making a weekend of it.
I'm really looking forward to this actually happenning, so whatever works for everybody else is absolutely fine with me. :D

BBYE 12-10-2012 12:15 PM

Good Points Dubldee...it might be prudent with the weather out West here that we have an alternate date in any event.
Father's day weekend is the 15th-16th... or the week prior is the 8th 9th which could work or the week following Father's Day.is the 22nd 23rd..which could work as a road trip as usually on Father's day folks gather at home. The weekend after the 22nd of course is the July 1st weekend so that is out.

Let's get an idea from those of us on the Forum and then the word... Again ..does anyone have any contacts in Red Deer at any Ford dealership??

I'm fine with any of the dates I have mentioned..Also do we want to make this a one day event/ A Saturday or Sunday??...or a weekender or a friday Night meet and greet with the S&S and fun events on Saturday??
Dave

DublDee 12-10-2012 12:29 PM

I don't have any contacts in the Red Deer area, but surely we have some locals on here from Red Deer, that could possibly investigate some options for us??

Kels 01-01-2013 11:43 PM

yea lloyd/Edmonton/red deer/Saskatoon works for me just let me know when there is dates set.

DublDee 01-02-2013 10:50 AM

I really hope we can make this happen this year! There's always lots of talk about it, but then it usually never happens.

Yeah it's tough to find a time and place that works for everyone but hopefully it happens. I'll try my best.

BBYE 01-06-2013 09:10 AM

Road Trip

What if all of us here figured out what would work best..\1. A weekender or one day...
2.If so a Sat or Sun..
3.Do we want to meet at a special location..ie Drumheller Museum...a lake setting somewhere..a road course for the day..ie Edmonton...or just a meet and greet at a location in a Major City..

Let's get some feed back...then let's just pick a date and commit to it and we can have a blast and agreat get together!

Kojak:chacha:

DublDee 01-06-2013 09:46 AM

Well for me personally I think a one day meet would be best, probably on a Saturday, that way for anyone who has a bit of traveling can spend the night if they need to, and have Sunday to travel home. As for where, it really doesn't matter to me if it's a special location, or whatever, but would be kinda neat if we could schedule it around a local show and shine, and have our own little area for CMOC, but that's just a thought, like I said it doesn't really matter.
What we need is someone that will head this up and maybe make some calls about finding a location to do this. Any volunteers? :?

BBYE 01-06-2013 10:44 AM

Right on Dubldee..also do we need to do this "Show" at a local that is midway between the majority of members??..
Or do the folks on here just want to pick a nice venue and just meet there??
Maybe let's have a role call over the next few days of where folks are located and where they would prefer the meet..Who wants to organize..????
Dave

DublDee 01-28-2013 12:26 PM

Well not surprising, nobody wants to volunteer to organize this, which i understand everybody has busy work schedules and so on, but we are not asking for someone to spend countless hours organizing a huge show and shine, we just need someone locally to make initial contact with a business or property manager to see if we can hold a small show & shine in their parking lot. Possibly a Ford dealer with extra lot space, or an auto parts depot with a large parking lot, or where ever really. This will also give them some added exposure and perspective customers. (which we can casually mention when making contact with them). As far as which city this should be held in, I think we need to first get a realistic idea of who is interested in showing up to this. For example if we plan it for say Red Deer, and nobody south of there shows up, it doesn't make sense for the rest of us to drive that far when somewhere like Edmonton would have been more cetralized for the attending group.(again this is just an example, and I'm ok if we did decide to do it in Red Deer).
So once more, please reply to this thread as to whether you would be interested in attending something like this, or not. Then we can make a decision as to where would be the best place, and at that time we can try to get a volunteer to HELP set it up.

ChadStang 01-28-2013 10:04 PM

If you guys want to drive up here I'll organize lol

def67 01-29-2013 06:39 AM

I'm willing to drive anywhere, anytime, as long as I have a few weeks notice I'll be able to get it off.

Pro SC 01-31-2013 07:41 AM

I will try to make it wherever it is as long as i get the time off of work. Do i have to bring my stang or can it be a different Ford?

BBYE 01-31-2013 01:36 PM

Hi there all...well we seem to have a little bit of feed back. It seems most of the responders are from Alberta so it only makes sense to do something there. Is it the opinion of the majority to do a one day meet & greet?
If so, even though I am from Saskatoon I would suggest Calgary. That way if any of us have to do an overnight we have lots of choice of where to stay..ie friends motels etc.
If Calgary is the choice does anyone there have any Ford contacts at dealerships that might want us to meet at for a mini show & shine/display for the dealership...can someone take this on & give feedback..thanks Kojak

ChadStang 02-03-2013 08:58 PM

I see that July 27 at Castrol Raceway is the Ford Fun drag races. Not sure if anyone would be up for it?

BBYE 02-03-2013 09:55 PM

That is interesting..just drags or is there also road race activities?

Sounds good, I'm game!

wannabesaleen281 02-04-2013 10:43 PM

I would love to do a meet,I am out of calgary but if i can get the time off work i am game.Maybe we could all even do a fun run from calgary to banff or something like that.5-25 mustangs cruising together would be one hell of an afternoon.

VE6SDW 02-05-2013 07:19 AM

I am game.
Edmonton, or Red Deer works best for me.
But I am flexible on locations. With Saturday being the best day.

DublDee 02-07-2013 06:51 AM

Well I'm good to go. I gave my boss the heads up, and let him know I wasn't sure exactly when, but it's not a problem whenever. Oh yeah I'll be having my Old man tagging along as well, he just picked up a race red '13 gt a couple months ago. I tried to get him to join but he's not real good on the computer. Anyway we'll be there.

VAEM 02-07-2013 06:43 PM

This meet is going to be fun. Be sure to post lots of pics! We should arrange an Ontario meet - on the same day! That'd be awesome!

cashby56 02-08-2013 10:24 PM

Newbee here would love to join you all in and about Red deer Edmonton

wannabesaleen281 02-10-2013 08:35 AM

What are everyone's thoughts on doing a meet in lethbridge for street wheelers weekend ?

def67 02-10-2013 09:10 AM

^ I am all over that LOL!!!!! Might be tough to find somewhere to park that weekend in Lethbridge though. I could find somewhere to meet in Taber or Coaldale though that weakend. And we could cruise to Pincher Creak area.

Just thinking out loud.

wannabesaleen281 02-10-2013 09:40 AM

I do street wheelers every year I book my summer holidays around it and if all goes as planned this should be year number 6, it always turns into a crazy weekend.

def67 02-10-2013 09:56 AM

I haven't went since I've had the stang.

Kels 04-20-2013 07:40 PM

Yea I just need a couple weeks notice and Calgary, red deer or Edmonton is fine with me.

def67 04-20-2013 07:52 PM

There's also Wednesdays at the Grey Eagle in Calgary.

BBYE 04-20-2013 08:09 PM

I don't think Wednesdays will work for an out of towner meet!

Now that the snow is finally going we should seriously think of a meet for a weekend day so those of us who work weekdays can jump in the beasts and make a get together.

Does anyone out there want to take on the planning of a Western meet??

I'm attending Tim and Brenda's Place cruise for a cure July 21st and if I'm not camping with the family the following week, I would be up for a meet and greet on the 27th.
