Renting a lot to make sure you have enough space and having a barbeque after for participants is WAAAAAYYYYY over the top for a first get together. Not trying to rain on your parade (or show in this case), but how many confirmed people you got signed up, because I'll bet if 100 people sign up on Facebook and say they're going, only 20 will actually show. If you're looking for suggestions, how about adding a dyno and bring in some strippers to serve up the free BBQ?

If you don't want to go AP then don't go, but give the guy a break, he stepped up when no one else would, you're being kind of a dick about it.

Sorry AP I have to agree with def on this one. No one wanted to grab the bull by the horns, so snickers did, and not only that, he started a facebook page just for this event to create as much awareness as possible, and don't ever under estimate the power of social media. This could turn in to a fairly good sized event. Personally I hope it's the first of many annual meets for the CMOC in Regina. Great work snickers!!!

I think AP was just looking out for everyone's best interest and giving warning as to what could potentially occur, he's just using that AP charm that most of us are used to and kind of enjoy. There would be nothing worse than laying out the cash for all of this and having a flop. When you get specific to a make or model it really limits your participants and audience, especially in a smaller centre. I hope that it all works out for you though and if I was closer I'd surely attend. Hell if you choose to take the suggestion of strippers to serve free BBQ I'll make the drive.

Maybe I jumped the gun a bit, I hope AP doesn't take it personally, but if its only me and snickers, I'll split the 140 bucks with him!

Chad nailed it, he gets it. Props to def67 for calling me a dick, that was funny dude, thanks for calling me on it. I don't have much use for Facebook, so there's strike one. Strike two goes for some of those people who live on Facebook, and will join anything if it looks cool. Like Chad said, you lay out the cash to feed 100 people who said they were going to show up and don't. Ouch. You plan on meeting in a parking lot for coffee, and well, if you're there, you're there, if not, so what ? Strike three goes to me for being so cynical DublDee, it does indeed take guts to step up and organize this sort of thing, there always seems to be lots of people who think it's a good idea, but few will step up and put it out there. Did you send your friend request to me after agreeing with def67 that I was a dick ? Cause that's funny too.

^^ I was agreeing with def on the whole stepping up thing, I didn't call you a dick. I guess I could have clarified that a little better. Sorry! As for the friend request, to be honest I'm not sure if I sent that before or after...I actually sent a few out yesterday. Anyway, I had no intentions of offended you, and from past experience I'm sure it takes more than that to offend you.
Can we still be friends?
