A seperation should show up during balancing as it is normally visible when you spin the tire.

Very true but it sounds like the tire shop was having issues balancing the tire,if they were focused on the balancing being the issue the could easily overlook a belt seperation

They did another balance last Wed that seems to have improved things somewhat according to the Missus (I can't drive right now cause I'm on a bunch a meds so she took it in). I'll reserve final judgement until I can get it on the road and see for myself.

Well I hope they got it for you. Keep us posted.

Crikey I hope for your sanity they get this fixed, one question is this being taken care of by the dealer or a tire shop you would hope that if it was the dealer the last thing they want to do is piss you off, competition for business out there is ruthless oh wait your on the island if your in Cvalley area its totally understandable if its the dealer jerkin you around they do have a bit of a reputation for being difficult.

Finally felt ok to drive yesterday so took the 'stang out for a run and I must say that the last balance (1'st at Ford dealership, next 2 at tire shop and last one at another dealership that has the latest and best equipment) seems to have eliminated 95% of the vibration.

I let a friend drive and he agrees that there is still 'something' there that is not normal road noise but I'm not sure they will ever get it any better so am in a bit of a quandary as to what to do next. My Service Manager thinks that it's fine and that any vibration I still feel is "normal" so I'm not sure if Ford will do any more for me.

It's now drivable so I might try a long trip and see how it feels after a few hours behind the wheel before I make a final decision to accept it as is or not.

It's such a nice car to drive other than this problem that I really want to get it worked out. Thanks everyone for their support and advice.

If you still feel that there seems to be an issue I would suggest test driving a new one to compare. I'm sure they would be willing to let you based on the issues you've had.
