Wanted TPMS's for my 09

Looking for 4 TPMS's for my 09. I had bought some from American Muscle a couple of years ago and finally had them installed by the Ford dealer here. They do not work. I can reset them and the light keeps coming back on. The dealer could not get them to reset either. I contacted American Muscle with no response from them. My original tires and rims were sold long ago, I never thought to take the sensors out because I had the new ones from American Muscle, that was a waste of good money.

That sucks, I've had the same sort of experience with buying something and it turns out to be not exactly as described.

Have you priced the OEM units? Last time I got a new set of winter wheels the Ford TPMS sensors weren't terribly priced.

Doesn't help with the fact American Muscle sold you some duds, but at least the Ford units will work, and if theres a problem you can go right to the guy that sold them to you.

That sucks that they don't work. It sucks even more that they won't get back to you. I think the sensors changed in 2010, so maybe you've got the 10-14 sensors. If that was the case at least you could sell them to recoup some of the cost of a new set.

I still have the ones from the 2014 rims that are on the car now. I think AP is right. Just bite the bullet and go directly to Ford.

And like ChadStang says sell the other two sets to recoup some of my loss.

These are what they are showing now. The ones I got are different. Mine have the chrome stems with chrome caps. I don't remember the brand.

Some sensors have to be activated and programmed with a code before they are installed. This is the way mine had to be done. After that, you go through the process with the tire tool and the honk for each wheel. Without first giving mine a code # (or copying my code from the original sensors) they wouldn't work. Mine were Green in colour and made by System 31 (EZ Sensor). I believe Ford uses 315Mhz sensors, but AM would know that.

I had Fry Ford install them and they couldn't figure it out. How are they programmed? What needs to be done?

That was back in 13, When our dollar was still somewhat strong. I wouldn't do it again at todays rates.
