Fuel Pump Died :(
Hey guys, was driving my car today and after mostly a normal acting day of driving, I started getting insane hesitation and huge power loss and the dreaded engine light. Took it too my mechanic, he hooked it into his computer and took it for a spin. Said it was the fuel pump long story short. He said they were 350 - 1250$ depending on the pump!?? Seems insane to me but he showed me on NAPA. Can I get a good fuel pump for a bolt on GT for a good price I don't wanna spend that much!!!? Thanks

Okay well that's good to know. Im gonna be cutting back on mods for a while cause of money so all I need is a good pump for basic bolt ons. I also heard there could be more to the whole fuel pump thing, I was reading we have a relay of some sort or that the PCM could be off in some way. Do you know anything about that?

If the mechanic didn't use a fuel pressure gauge I don't know how he would have determined it needed a pump. If you had a relay problem I don't think the car would run at all. As far as an upgraded pump goes, it really wouldn't cost much more than a stocker.

He didn't use a gauge he said he'd have to do that tomorrow to see if its for sure pump. What he did was ran a scanner through the OBD port and test drove it and during WOT or harder throttle he could see the amount of fuel was no where close to what It needed to be it shot down instead of up.

Fuel Filter is very recently new. Yea it was just while driving. It started up fine after I shut It off when I got home before mechanics. That's why im wondering if it's on its last legs or if theres something else within a mustangs fuel system that could be causing not enough fuel all of a sudden when on harder throttle.

Yea that's exactly what's been happening, so I don't know anything about the pumps. What size would I need stock, and what would be worth upgrading too just with bolt ons to get something better performance wise?

I had a fuel pump installed parts $125 labour was $175 however I had my buddy Tech work for on a flat rate. See if you can find a mobile Tech or back ally Tech do it. Its not that hard of job just have to drop the gas tank buy a fuel pump from lordco. Don't pay that much money for that job!! I saw on Google when these guys put in a fuel pump in a 95 Mustang Cobra your Mustang is a SN95 so it wood be close not a big Job
