Question Clutch Cable Help

I'm planning on replacing the clutch in my 2000 GT this weekend and want to know how you "reset" the adjustment on a stock cable, or does it "reset" itself when you disconnect it from the release fork? What I'm worried about is; that after I replace the clutch, etc, that the cable is now too tight because of the previous adjustment on the old clutch and it won't allow the clutch to grab properly. I've replaced clutches before but they were all hydraulic and so I'm not familiar with these. If someone can give a description and if possible include pic's that would be greatly appreciated.

All you have to do to adjust a stock cable is, when you are done installing everything, go inside the car and grab the pedal and pull it all the way upwards. This will set the cable. Good Luck

Thanks, but I already know how to adjust it from nothing (cable has never been adjusted ie: a new cable) or to adjust an existing cable but what I want to know is: how do you "reset" a cable to take the previous adjustment out of it ? For example if the cable is adusted too much and you wanted to remove the tension in it and start over how do you do it ? Or does the adjustment procedure you described do both ie: if it's too tight it releases it or if it's too loose it tightens it ? I thought it only tightened the cable.

Maybe I'm not describing what it is I want to do very well but hopefully this post makes it clearer 89notchback and the rest of you. Thanks in advance for your help.
