I also know Dasilva does tuning (heard good and bad) and see Dsousa now is doing SCT (more old school 5.0 guys)

This thread has the making of the ultimate pissing/bashing contest, and I hope it doesn't go there.
Here's my take as a customer on my recent KenneBell install and tune on a 4.6l 2V. I chose to go with the talented team at Steeda.ca/MPW and here's why:
1) I sat in the bleachers as one of the better known shops (not a sponsor here) installed and tried to tune one of the first KBs in Ontario...and it was a nightmare...fortunately for my stomach lining..this was not my car. While I understand that $h1t happens...the car was let go while it was not running right. The customer was unhappy to say the least...and to make a long story short...the Steeda/MPW guys fixed the car and got it running like a champ.
2) During the determination of this car's issue...KenneBell was convinced that the shop who did the original install made an error somewhere, and the issue was a vacuum leak. It should be noted that before July of last year, KenneBell kits were equipped with the DiabloSport chip available at that time. Well Meister and the team at Steeda.ca (who frequent this board) disagreed...with KB, and told them this was a tuning issue!
3) Well, you can imagine KB's response when some young "punk" with no "tuning" noteriety starts claiming that a blower manufacturer in business for nearly 30 years is the one responsible. BUT...Meister backs up his claim with HIS custom SCT tune on this car...and guess what...the problem is fixed.
4) Meister shares all his findings with the folks at KB, and three very interesting things happened almost immediately. First off...Jim Bell (Prez. founder and CEO of Kennebell) makes a call to congratulate Meister for a job well done...second, he gives Steeda.ca the endorsement of being KB's choice for the dealer/supplier/installer for Ontario. And last..but not least...KB switches to SCT.
While I can understand that some installs/tunes can be a PITA...letting a car go back to the customer while not running right is inexcusable...and there were "other issues" with this particular car...issues that were obviously "short cuts" taken due to demand on this shop's time, and the obvious inablilty to keep up with demand.
The boys at Steeda.ca/MPW have assured me, and I'm sure every other customer, that the car won't leave until it's right...and it's safe.
They maybe young on paper, versus most other shops...but talent cannot be judged by a birth certificate. I'm 38...so I think I've lived long enough to make an accurate judgement. To put things in perspective, Meister's sharing of knowledge online has made some of the "big" shops go back to school...just to keep up. He's educated the car owner...and because of this...we can ask very important questions that were previously side-stepped by certain shops...and it's a better market for us now. He shouldn't be bashed...he should be thanked!
It should be noted that the Steeda.ca/MPW joining last Fall...makes for a sweet team. Mike Grella (aka MPW) is wrenching on all the rides...so if you're looking for experience...it's there.
These guys did my KB install and tune...and the job was first rate. Awesome pricing, professional courtesy and customer service...show quality install...and a tune that just freakin rocks. Tune is ultra-safe, and we picked up more HP than KB did.
I'm sure every shop has their share of horror stories...but as a customer...I can't say enough about the ones who are responsible and proactive...the ones who understand that today, the computer is as important as the pistons..maybe more important.
Sorry for the long post.

2000BLKGT, well stated and very well written.
The bottom line is that every shop, especially those who advertise here at CMOC, are great at what they do. Mistakes happen regardless of how young or old you may be.
Do your homework and make the choice that's right for you.

Sorry for the long post.
As Tim said, I am here to educate the customer if they have the desire to understand what is going on. I feel this is very important, and my customers should always be aware of what I am doing. I may not have been around as long as the others, and I may not be able to build a motor.....but I KNOW what works and how to make fast cars even faster. I just want to take this time to explain some of my tuning methods and principles.
I have always been and will continue to be more than just a Wide Open Throttle (WOT) tuner. There is so much more to proper tuning than finding the highest HP and torque number at WOT, it should be just one consideration of many. I have always tried to be known as a “Calibration” expert rather than just a "tuner". Up until now, all of the tuning and calibration work I've done has been performed on the street, and local area dynos for the basic stuff like idle, part throttle, light load, etc., and of course WOT.
It has taken a lot of time and discipline to find all of the individual factors that affect driveability and be able to return an extensively modified Mustang to stock-like street manners. But it's a feat that I am extremely proud of and do repeatedly
We've set the standards for how a Mustang with extensive performance work should and can run in typical driving conditions, not just WOT.
I have never been known as a heroic full-throttle tuner looking for glory and fame by gaining a little bit of power each time a car is put on the dyno and tested at WOT with a simple tweak or a gimmick. Anyone can increase the timing and lean out the Air/Fuel ratio to find a power gain. Keeping a combination within safe margins, with stock-like driveability and impressive power is what makes me unique. Its no secret in our area and in other Mustang clicks that I am a conservative and responsible tuner when it comes to power adder cars. I want to make it clear that we tune to ensure the vehicle will produce reliable power for a long time as opposed to maximum power for a few minutes.
When I tune at WOT I want to be able to pull hard in high gear and be able to stay there with confidence on the highway or the drag strip and know that it wont burn up a piston or head gasket. This type of responsible, conservative tune can cost as much as 30-60 horsepower at the rear wheels on a simple blower combo with 9-12 psi of boost on an average 5.0 or 4.6L! But it also guarantees that the engine will still be making that power long after it has left our shop instead of being back for a new engine after a few days.
A vehicle that leaves Steeda.ca is making a substantial amount of power with a "safety-margin" and retains stock-like driveability. This is just one of the many factors that has helped us gain such a large, loyal following and staying power in an industry that sees dozens of shops open and close every year.
I would like to thank Tim for his ongoing support as well as all of our other customers from this site as well as others sites. You make great things possible!
