'82 stock 5.0
Hey,
I've been looking at possibly buying an '82 GT with a stock drivetrain. I know they're fairly gutless. Is it worth buying? How easy is it to increase horsepower? Had a 90 notch, but really like the look of the 4 eyes.
Thanks

If it's worth it visually, and mechanically,i say yes!Doesn't take much to build hp down the road.Build yourself a nice 5.0L from a 1987+ longblock.Throw in a nice cam, some heads,an aftermarket carburated intake, and carb, look for a carb'd '85 5.0L timing cover for the fuel pump boss, unless you go electric, then you will not need it,get yourself a bronze or billet steel distributor gear to be compatible with the roller cam for your dizzy,or look for a '85 5.0L dizzy from a carb '85 5.0L,not from one that has been an automatic, they were non roller cammed. Then later through in an 8.8 diff with some 3.73's,full exhaust, pulleys, and convert to a world class T-5 trans or better.
Basically you should be able to build yourself a pretty descent engine, and combo at a affordable price if you search, and find all the parts threw the internet as there is tones of stuff for sale for the roller camme'd 5.0L blocks out there.Guys are constantly changing there set ups,and sell their stuff (most sell their stuff) at descent prices to rid of the stuff to make room for their new stuff.
