i called another shop today and got a price of 4500 bucks..does this seem a little steep?....

Depends on the quality of both the parts and the work. A guy who quotes cheap in order to get a job and doesn't check his clearances isn't worth squat.

Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Haha,
I rarely take what i read in the magasines as gospel and only put forward their opinion when i have an uninformed one of my own. The guy in the article wasn't trying to sell anything either...the shop he was from sells both 331s and 347s so why would he be biased?
Anyway, opinions are like ********....

the first shop i called is a really respectable shop in my area, they've built alot of crazy cars in my town, so i know they do good work, i might buy the stroker kit seperate and just send the car in to have it all done, i want a forged crank,forged rods and pistons yad,yada......

im from bolton, on wednesday nights all the guys gather in the ct parking lot and on thursday nights in the local performance shops parking lot, usually about 20 cars show, ranging from gt500's to vipers yada,yada.....neways iv tlked to a few guys who had there motors built at rpm in my town here, one was a orange 70ish camaro, all tubbed with a fully done 454 pushing 500+hp and another was another tubbed 502 chevelle ss as well as a few other noas etc
