Question Reinstalling heads.....

When reinstalling heads that haven't been taking appart (so rockers, valves ect... stayed on) do you need to reajust for lash, rockers and things of the sort?? I beleive I have a leaking head gasket, so im going to change both.

If you're talking about an 87 that still has the factory style bolt-down pedestal mount rockers, then there is no adjustment really. They just get tightened down to whatever the torque spec is.

On aftermarket bolt-down rockers, sometimes thin shims are needed to get the pushrod preload correct. But if it's all factory stuff in there now, and the head surface doesn't get milled, it should go back together the way it came apart OK.

cheers
