Tweecers

Who here has a Tweecer? or knows how to operate "professionaly" a tweecer?

I am thinking about buying a tweecer for my 94 GT. But I have never even seen the capabilites of what they can do, I have never even seen one before. What is the best thing I should do? Should I buy a Tweecer to tune me S/Ced GT that way, or should I get a custom chip/tune?
Really will I get the same resaults? witch is the better route to go? I plan on keeping my setup for a very long time. I think 500rwhp is just about enough for me.

Witch is the best place to get tune?

Now since I have never even seen a tweecer before is it possible I can learn how to use it? does it come with like instructions?

nickm50 01-10-2007 07:19 PM

whats an instrution? haha

Tweecer

Go with the Tweecer. There's tons on help on the internet.
If you can't get it to work, there lots of tuners that can tune or help you tune it.
Just make sure you get the Tweecer RT

What is a Tweecer?

NOVI VERT 01-14-2007 06:09 PM

Get a Ford 90mm or SCT2400 maf. Probaley the SCT2400 because you'll most likely peg the LMAF. And bring it to Meister and get it tuned. (CHIP BURNT)Simple as that and all you have to do then is enjoy driving the car with no worrys. IMO
Meister fixed me up real good, im figuring around 450RWHP for my application H/C/I and blower. Close to yours.

The TWEECER has a steep learning curve, a HUGE variety of software you can use and takes ~40 HOURS of tuning (on average) to get your tune perfect. If you don't have the patience or time to invest in using this device, it might not be a good choice.

Also, a wideband is necessary in order to tune with it CORRECTLY.

They have a message board you can sign up to. I've been a member for years, reading about people's problems and successes. It can basically make your eec do anything you want it to, on the other hand you have to be pretty smart to make it do it.

THREE40SEVEN 02-15-2007 03:26 PM

It be cheaper for you to take your car to paul and get her tuned, unless you REALLY want to know the eec, how it operates, and how to modify it. I started tuning with tweecers and eec tuners years ago, and there is a steep leaning curve.

NOVI VERT 02-15-2007 03:31 PM

Tweecers are nothing but a pain ass unless your Job Spetter Jr, and i dont think he even uses that, he uses Gen 7 DFi and SCT software, but anyway the tweecer has a very broad leaning curve your average joe cannot use this system, would be alot cheaper to have the car tuned by Meister. IMO
PS. How is it going Matt?

Thats my 2 cents for today!!
Thanks...........Dan O'Keefe

HAHAHAHAHA IM SURE IT WOULD..........lets change my entire setup hahaha good one.

Anywase, im willing to take that risk, I would rather learn to tune my own car then have someone else do it for me.

Thanks for the opinions guys.

NOVI VERT 02-15-2007 07:36 PM

I'd much rather pay someone to tune my car and enjoy driving it then spend night after night fooling around with this setting and that setting, trying to get it right, plus the fact that you'll know your car is safe everytime you step you it. But listen man your money is your money do what you please. It is obvious from your first post on this thread you dont have a clue about a tweecer and how it works, if thats the route you want to go I'd go with a Anderson Ford Motorsports PMS far superior to the tweecer and much easier to use, the tweecer was used in the late 90's old school stuff. i would also like to learn how to do build superchargers but i decided it would be much cheaper to give the guys at paxton a call seeing there take all of the guess work out of it. And yes i am joking about building a supercharger. But like i said if thats the route you wanna go it's your pocket book brudder. Just don't nasty at people that give you honest advice, despite what people think all shops aren't out to rape you.
Have fun with the Tweecer.

Dude I wasn't being nasty, but if you want I will!!!

No, I don't own TwEECer, but I will..........all shops are not out to rape you LOL. Either way, I know someone that will help me out with the TwEECer. Old school? hahaha I wonder were you heard that before......is this why 80% of the people still use the TwEECer?
And yes it my money, and ill do what want. Every 2nd sentance you see this "Steep learning curve" so yes I am prepared of what im about to tackle!

Besides this thread is already getting old I have read alot since then 01-10-2007 07:01 PM

SNAKEBITE 02-15-2007 09:46 PM

What do the other 20% use. Who has time to figure this system out. I would just pay a pro to do any Pony work.thumb:

Stang Illusions 5.0L 02-16-2007 04:09 AM

I have a old car, so ill use a old tune. simple :)

NOVI VERT 02-16-2007 04:44 AM

You said the main word there "Simple"

Schlodes 02-27-2007 09:58 PM

I just bought a TwEECer RT for my SVO. It all depends on what you want, and are willing to put up with... or.. learn. Getting a tune and being done with it is by far the easiest way, but I am going to be constantly making small changes and don't want to have to run to or rely on someone when those times arrise, not to mention not many people out there do the 2.3Ts so finding someone......

From what I have seen so far it's actually a bit simpler with the PE and LA EECs vs alot of the other ones.

I have alot to learn but that never killed anyone, already have the wideband and plan to buy a cheap datalogger to work in conjunction with the RTs so I can wire in a blow through MAF, and log it compared to VAM voltage in the RT to help with the maf conversion.

I absolutely can't stand having to rely on people for something, so to me even if there is a steep learning curve in the end it's worth it to me.

Stang Illusions 5.0L 02-28-2007 01:06 AM

I agree, Im looking forward to buying one and being able to tune it a little here, and a little there. I also love the fact of the switch for different tunes, I have something upo my sleave for a 4 tunes........

How much did you pay for your RT? I am looking right now for one.

Schlodes 02-28-2007 11:13 AM

I got mine on Ebay, from Bryant Motorpsorts. Got the base model at first and was going to just buy separate datalogging, but realized I wanted the RT for real time troublshooting. IE: coolant temp sensor goes bad, or something ign related PIP flakes and makes timing erratic or whatever I "think" I should be able to see all that on a datalog. I can see what's going on with the RT model.

Schlodes 04-12-2007 06:40 PM

Illusions.. so did you buy a Tweecer?

I got mine up and running on the Cougar to play around, I have to be honest it's a bit annoying to learn, and you need to have someone who has a 5.0L setup willing to kinda learn you along, I am lucky and have a buddy from FL helping me out on the 2.3T end.

So far... getting the datalogging to work properly has been the most frustratiing part. I have a grip on adjusting the timing maps, and changing injector size, and I moved the rev limit down to 4000 rpm for fun and sat in the driveway boucing the car off the 4000 rpm limit and it acted like a 2 step and made 13 psi boost!! LOL.

I had the way the fueling is worked out explained to me and it makes sense now, but like I say, I paid for the datalogging and kindof wish I wouldnt have, if you get a Tweecer RT though, I have a feeling it will work better for the A9_ series computers the 5.0Ls use. The 2.3s I have heard were hit or miss.

There are certain steps you have to follow and if you don't you can make it go haywire, if you bought one and are using it post up what you think so far. From what I see it will be a neat tuning tool, but it's only as good as it's user wall: which isn't saying much right now. tounge:

I am also looking for a system for my 2.3 turbo. I have decided to go with the Megasquirt system and I talk to joel at WPracing and he is going to set it up. I'd like to see how your system works out for ya. Keep us updated thumb:

Stang Illusions 5.0L 04-13-2007 03:47 AM

Yes I bought the TwEECer RT and have not got to use it yet. I have a friend in Toronto area that is going to help me out with my tune. I have been playing around with the program abit, when they say steep learning curve they were not lieing ;). I will be starting with the J4J1 cobra tune to get me started then work from there.

Keith.
