Hi Mike,

I have a 65 but I know the steering boxes are similar. The washers don't go between the box and frame on mine. I doubt they do on the 69.

I don't recall mine having 1/4 washers. Are you sure they came from the steering box?

On my 67, I didn't have any washers between mine either and I put in a FR box in 2 years ago so the install is fresh in my mind.

If those washers have a flat spot on one edge they go under the bolt head on the outside of the frame rail.
If it is a concours car the washers shoud be cad plated with a red wash.

1965 mustang steering box

Hi: Speaking of steering box, my seems to have play nad when holder the steering wheel tight the front wheels have play. Is there a way to tighten something in the steering box, or should it be replaced. Also, does anyone know of a mechanic in the mississauga area that can work on old mustangs?
Appreciate any advise
