Question 1993 Mustang Fuel Gauge stuck at full?

So, two shops worked on the stang, sometime in between my fuel gauge or something related to it went south.

The car always shows full when started. However (from what i NOW know) you can run it bone dry and still show full.

I have taken it to a local mustang shop who said they couldn't figure it out (17 years + mustang experience), I question if they even tried.

Any advise on how I can go about dealing with this myself?

Well, found this online and im going to try it out.

i suspect a broken wire between guage and sender unit in tank, but the sending unit could be bad, find the wire to the float guage in the tank and disconnect it, if fuel level does not change then then touch the wire to a ground, if the guage changes then the wire is ok and the unit is bad, if it does not change check wiring and guage for faults.

I figure you're on the right track - only so many places to look. Sending unit on tank, gauge in the dash, and wiring/grounds in between.

Either that, or someone slipped one of those magic beans in your tank that gives you 1000mpg or something. ha ha ha
