We just got back from a couple of weeks in PEI (didn't drive the Mustang) and I finally did the oil change today. I used synthetic oil since this is what the shop manual calls for. The oil drain bolt was very tight and I had trouble loosening it until I checked the manual and found that it is torqued to 19 ft-Ib. Got my torque wrench out, set it to 19 ft-Ib and out it came. It uses a 15mm socket. I also changed the air filter. Does anyone who has changed their air inlet system still have the original hanging around? I need two of the retaining clips for the air filter housing since mine are very rusty.

I may not always change the oil myself (getting too old for this) but I wanted to get under the car and check everything out. There is some rust under there but not as bad as I had thought. I think that sometime soon I will get it steam cleaned and coat the floors and suspension with something. Not sure just what to use.

Take it to Krown and have them undercoat the undercarriage. That will slow or may even stop it from getting any worse.

 

THX. A couple of years ago, the car was undercoated with some other type of rust proofing but it wasn't done very well. Will Krown remove/clean everything before spraying? I guess I can always give them a call.

I'm pretty sure Krown won't remove/clean anything. They'll drill the holes if its never been treated before and you're doing the insides of the panels as well as the underbody, but they won't clean up the underbody before applying. I'm not 100% on that, but maybe 99%. Either way its a good idea.

 

It's been way too long since I have posted. My question of the day is where in Canada can I buy a decent quality car cover for my 2003? It is in my garage for the winter and I want to keep the dust off but may also use it in the summer when it sits in my driveway. FYI, I have installed the snow tires just in case it is called for duty during the winter (but hopefully not).
