heartbroken

i went to a body shop in gatineau today and saw the most gut wrenching episode of my life. a beautiful silver 2012 5.0 convertible getting painted flat black. it had 81km on the odometer, and not a scratch anywhere. I think i was in too much shock cause i forgot to snap some pictures. thats not so bad you say, well they were doing it with spray cans. :?:banghead:

What a waste of a Mustang.

Vapor Shelby 03-27-2012 08:00 AM

OMG from Silver to Flat Black....:suicide:

Lorne 03-27-2012 08:23 AM

I just don't get it either, must be my age.

Reminds me of this, anything to stand out I guess.

Some people's kids eh and nice post Lorne:lol

WTF spray cans. If it was a proffesionally done matte black I'd have no issue with it but to spray bomb over factory paint is a sin.

1low03gt 03-27-2012 07:52 PM

Maybe they where painting it with that plasti dip stuff.Especially if they are using a spray bomb. A few guys south of the boarder have done this. If they don't like it, the plasti dip stripes off unlike paint.

If not, poor car!!!

Good call, one can hope I guess. I'm not sure I'd really want to plastidip my new car but it would protect the paint I guess.

Regardless of what is in the can, I say poor car anyway! Spray bombing a new car?????..:banghead:

SNAKEBITE 03-28-2012 06:09 AM

would still be a ton of work to peel it off if a person did not like the result

VAEM 03-28-2012 06:33 PM

A spray can!!! Ohhh man, lets hope it's plasti-dip. Matte black is not an easy color to get right.

2000roush 03-29-2012 06:38 AM

im going back today. i will try to snap some pics.

SNAKEBITE 03-29-2012 09:33 AM

Huh, looks pretty good. ;)

2000roush 03-31-2012 07:25 AM

It looks different in person. You can see through the black to the silver on every panel. It didn't cover properly. You can see it on the hood (drivers side)

SNAKEBITE 03-31-2012 08:39 AM

what a waste

ChadStang 03-31-2012 12:39 PM

In the pics it actually doesn't look too bad. I still wouldn't go that route on a brand new car though. What a dumb move if you ask me.

Vapor Shelby 03-31-2012 12:56 PM

Just not feeling the whole flat black, Murdered out look, even black wheel *Yawn ...
Give me Shine and Chrome any day! Maybe I'm getting old :bleh:

I'm the opposite. I hate chrome and I love matte colors, just not when they are done this way.

green pony 03-31-2012 03:32 PM

No more annoying glare off the hood.

SNAKEBITE 03-31-2012 05:06 PM

great call.

VAEM 04-02-2012 07:09 PM

I love the matte look (clearly) - just not out of a spray can ... and on a brand new car. :banghead:

Yeah, pictures do hide the true story of the imperfections of an object as it really doesn't look too bad looking at those pics, but in person i could imagine!!:bleh:

SNAKEBITE 04-02-2012 07:44 PM

the horror of it all lol

DublDee 04-03-2012 10:59 AM

^^Couldn't agree more!

markhooper 04-03-2012 01:10 PM

I just don't get it ! Why would anyone paint a car like that ?!?
Is it some quicky paint job for a scene in a movie or something ?

SNAKEBITE 04-03-2012 04:19 PM

I don't think the movie producers would cut corners like that unless it's a B or worse movie lol

2000roush 04-03-2012 10:03 PM

and they dont make movies in aylmer quebec. if they did it would be lower than a B movie thats for sure.

SNAKEBITE 04-09-2012 11:07 PM

that's true lol
