Illuminated door sills

Illuminated door sills
I got a hold of some 2010 oem lighted door sills and want to install them on my 2005 mustang. I would like to hook up the illumination but not sure where to connect them. Can anyone help?
Thanks

I have never installed them but I do have some knowledge of electrical wiring in my Mustang - especially after re-doing most of it during the 3.8 to 5.0 swap.
Since you would only want these to illuminate when the door is open, you will need to tap into an existing power source controlled by the door switch. Something like the overhead light would work just fine - even better if you can tap in right at the fuse box - thereby adding some additional protection via the fuse panel. In this way they will turn on when the door is opened, and off when the door is closed. Since you would not want the wiring to be visible, once you find a suitable door switch controlled wire to tap into, you would need to drill a hole through the existing jamb / sill and run the wire up from underneath.
I've never seen the connectors on the sills, of if connectors are even there so I might be way off - maybe there just "plug and play". If your really stuck go to a car audio shop - they deal with this stuff all the time.
I'm sure some of our sponsors might be able to help you out. Krown Lakeshore, Selective Sound or Audio Heaven could have them installed in a snap!

Welcome aboard!!
I would try to figure out the power source/wire(s) that run threw the doors that make the dome light come on when the doors are open, and tap them right there as they would be protected by the same fuse......Or locate where the door harness is tapped to in the fuse box.But i would go with the first option.Simpler, can be done with less wire routing which is safer to a point, and will be a cleaner install.
