installing fuel pump

ok, my fuel pump is in the mail.
so when it gets here, if it is still warm out, i will try to install.
if not it can wait till the spring.
but, just befoe i parked the car, i filled the tank full of gas.
am i going to have to drop the tank to change this pump?
also will the tank have to be empty or less full?

I ran mine low on fuel toward the end of the season knowing I have to do the same. You must drop the tank. This job is much easier and safer when there is low fuel. 96-97's dont need modifications to the sender or basket, only 98+'s do.

If you are changing it on the ground with stands, jacks etc It will be much easier with the tank empty.

I've seen guy cut part of there Trunk out and install the Pump with the tank untouched.

I wouldn't recommend it though.
