Mach 1 vs Cobra: Battle of Baddest Mustangs
The Similarities End With the Four-Valve 4.6

It is an older article, but a good read. Really states what todays Mustangs offer compared to yesteryear.

I am bias towards the Mach. :) lol :tup

I want an 03 Cobra so badly....

one day it will happen

1low03gt 07-26-2005 09:11 PM

Good article.Muscle Mustangs had a good one last year with all three, the '04 Cobra,'04 Mach 1,which both were stick, and the '04 Special Edition Crimson Red GT,but in a auto :bleh: ,it should've been a stick along with the other two :banghead: .But still a good article. :)

machrmk 07-26-2005 10:11 PM

Good find gfong. I also have a bias for the Mach. Have you seen this article on the best of the NA 4.6's? Mach 1 vs Bullitt vs 99 Cobra.

Thanks again.

I knew those Bullitts were no slouch. I agree with 5 point, 03-04 Terminator Cobra is a MUST HAVE.

He never said the Cobra was automatic.
SS

5PointOHNO 07-27-2005 06:29 PM

^maybe he was referring to the fact that there is no need to point out the Cobra is stick.

P.Meister 07-27-2005 08:08 PM

The 03/04 Cobra's will be the best of the Cobra's.....

Even though the new "Shelby" will make more power and have a bigger motor it will be a PIG and probally run the same times as a 03.

It took me a while, but I learned dyno numbers mean $hit  and weight is VERY VERY important, as well as getting the power to the ground

Prime Example --> my 03 cobra that ran a 12.0 @ 124 with 550rwhp. It now weighs about 350+ less than factory and has a solid axle with drag suspension....this will probally shave close to 1sec off my time

5PointOHNO 07-27-2005 08:22 PM

The kid can tune....

But can he drive....

.... Coming to a dragstrip near you ....

P.Meister 07-27-2005 08:33 PM

I am not that bad actually...but practice makes perfect

I hope you don't drive as bad as Pat plays golf.

Bring it on Patty :deal:

agreed, I think the only problem you had before was the IRS...

things should change now. Do you have any "other" weight out of the car?

P.Meister 07-27-2005 10:23 PM

Rear Seats Out: 50-70lbs
IRS Out: 100lbs (rough estimate)
Stock Hood Off: 10lb or more

I guess that is it, so I have taken out 150-200lbs probally....

In race trim, I will have mugh lighter wheels and tires (which is rotatinal mass, so it counts for more).....my street wheel/tire setup in total is about 50lbs lighter than stock

I want to take the AC out as well. I want my car down to around 3350-3400lbs. Next year I will do K-Member, A-Arms, etc

P.Meister 07-27-2005 11:13 PM

If you want to get really technical:

Removed front swaybar (which includes endlinks and some bolts, HA HAHA. Swaybar is probally around 10lbs too

5PointOHNO 07-28-2005 06:02 PM

yeah dropping the front swaybar is essential... I wouldn't take out the A/C though, that keeps the car more streetable. Not to mention with this weather, it's needed.

The K-member will save you HUGE amounts of weight.

Thanks SS . :tup

I was talking about the GT being an auto.Wasn't a fare shot for the GT.I know it doesn't compare to it's bigger brothers, but could have been more fare it it were a stick aswell, instead of the STOCK FACTORY slowmatic.
And believe me,i'm not stang illiterate. :)

P.Meister 07-28-2005 09:34 PM

The Stock Auto with some tuning KICKS BUTT

I will be putting a 4R70W in my car next year I think :chacha:

We have a 00GT with a Novi 2000, Water Meth and Drag Suspension running 11.7's with the stock auto by putting the car in D and mashing the gas....shifts like a top

Do you think that will help you with your "shifting". I bet you will still miss 3rd :laughhard J/K

Sorry I had to.

Pull Beside

T56's are KNOWN for not going into 3rd or 4th under full boost

Scotts88 07-29-2005 02:44 PM

how does the tranny know its under boost? maybe doesnt go into gear under throttle?

P.Meister 07-29-2005 03:08 PM

The tranny does not necessarily know it is under boost.....nor does it really know the proper throttle position...I am just making a comment that these are the conditions when it happens

7 of 10 cobra owners have expressed their concerns about this problem.

Drop the boost, or close the throttle a crack (whichever you chose to call it) and the problem is not as frequent.

I won't race you until after you tune my car, I want you to make MORE power not take power away so you can keep up :shakeit:
