Ray: You complain about people knocking your V6 but all you do is defend it to the point where you might as well talk smack about the 8's. After all you get what you pay for and lets face it a GT often turns heads quicker than a V6. As far as you seeing GT's beside you or in your rear view that's probably by chance or they just have not passed you yet.

I love cars and seeing them customized but why would you buy a V6 to turn around and add all kinds of mod's hoping to increase the performance. Is this now why the GT is offered? My cousin has an 07 V6 with some mod's (exaust, chip, etc) and I still do not like the sound but that is just me.

As others have said it is all preference... and obviously some people simply have bad taste... lol.

What a load of crap.

Swinging a lighter front end through the corners also makes for a better performing car.

There is no "right" way to enjoy this hobby and what you put into your car. We are all individuals. Maybe all our cars should be the same.Would that be interesting?

I remember at one show, a lady looked under the hood of my car exclaiming "its only a V6, nothing special". I told her that she was not really a car enthusiast if she makes that kind of comment. A real enthusiast will appreciate what it takes for someone to put there heart and soul into their cars.

Very good post,... I own an 8cyl but not because I thinks its better,.. just what "I personally like" I`ve seen plenty of beautiful and quick 6 cyl.

Neat. Keep in mind I have seen Pinto's take down Mustangs back in the day.

Wow look at all the V6 owners come out of the woodwork. Haha!

I still stand by my original comment but feel as though maybe I should explain myself. "GT or bust. Everything else will leave you wanting more and feeling inferior. I know from experience.."

I owned 2 - 4cyl fox bodies. I loved them. Great cars. I modded the second one tastefully. But it was still BORING as hell and I constantly drooled over the 5.0L LX's and GTs that passed by. So I thought hey I can upgrade to a 2002 V6 Coupe. Cheap on gas, Cheaper on insurance, Same car right? WRONG. I took one for a nice long test drive and was thoroughly disappointed. It had sloppy handling, girlish little tires, limp dick exhaust, and felt as fast as my moms dodge caravan at the time. Not only that the gas mileage wasn't that much better, my insurance was still bloody expensive either way because I was young. Whoop-de-do!

I didn't want a car that I wasn't even remotely happy with out of the box. I don't mind spending money to modify. But a V6 is not exactly an ideal starting point. I'd have to pump in a few grand to make look as good and be as fast as a GT. By then I might as well of bought the GT anyway.

I promised myself that day that if I couldn't get behind the wheel of a V8 I would shop for something else. I don't want just a pony car. Thankfully after saving cash and generally progressing in life I found my way into a 2002 GT Vert and never looked back. Now I have my 05GT with a few go fast mods and it's everything I've ever wanted. A true modern muscle car.

If I think the V6 isn't worth it to me and that it is an incomplete package. I feel I should at least convey my experiences to anyone I meet. Especially if that's exactly what they are asking for.. I don't care what they decide. They can make their own decisions. That's part of being an individual.

BTW Some of you have some pretty sick 6s and good attitudes. I respect that

I think the thing that makes the strong opinions toward V8 Mustangs is the muscle car roots. I know you can argue the first Stangs came with an I6 but the Mustangs that really made a name for themselves had the powerful V8's like the Boss 302, Boss 429, And the 390 and 351 Mach 1's. I'm not gonna stand around and bash the V6 cars but I'm not gonna buy one either. To each his own. Who knew this topic could blow up like it did.

I don't mean to bash those who enjoy their V6s. Everyone has different tastes/needs. I've been on both sides of the fence. However I'm not afraid to say how I came to the conclusion that the V8 was the only car for me. That is all.

Here's my old 4 banger for ***** and giggles.
