GEARS either 3:73's or 4:10's.
then maybe full exhaust, underdrive pullies, cold air intake...
start with gears, and see how you like it.

theres a ton of things you can do to a v6. find a gt dual exhaust can find them pretty cheap. add a cai. and gears. there are a few good v6 mustang sites www.v6power.net is one. the 98 has the same motor as the super coupe you said you didnt want a supercharger but finding one of a supercoupe may not be to expensive. i would have done it except the 99 v6 that i have uses a different style of intake.

1.Gears (3,73s)
2.Exhuast
3.Could Air Intake
4.Pullies (im sure they make some for the 6ers)
5.Shifter

A Few things like those moddifications will really help get on your way to being faster.

Or you could just pick up a V8 and Drop it in...

Yes, you can fit just about any turbo into it. Alot of work. Not as easy as you may think, and may end up costing almost the same for an engine swap. This is why I think a turbo on a six is a waste of time. It may be easier to swap engines. You cannnot just stick a turbo on and go. You got to change exaust manifolds, put in an inter cooler (May have to take off front fenders and bumper for that), run the piping, change the fuel ratio, and depending on the turbo's PSI, may have to change internals. Might as well get an 8 for the time and money to install.
For dropping a v8 in, the car was made for the 8. You will need new engine mounts, and possibly a tranny and chip. I have not swapped a mustang engine out before so I don't know all the details, but I am pretty sure that is it. StealthGT is the expert on that. I have done a dodge demon before from a 318 to 340 six pack, but it should be the same idea. Biggest headache will be the electrical, and hooking up vaccume lines and stuff. Any one else can correct me if I am wrong about any of this.
The best way to go which I would recomend, is trade the car in for a GT manual shift. Trade it while it is still young. You will get more for it.
