The Costco $1000 discount is used as if you wrote a $1000 cheque to the dealer when you pick up the car. The $1000 is after tax on the purchased price for the car. The dealer gets a cheque sent to them from Costco after the sale. You get the benefit right away. This is how it worked for me and another friend who purchased a 2012 GT in the past 2 months.
