Oil advice - I need your thoughts.

I use Castrol Synethic Tech 5w-30w with a Ford oil filter. I was using Quaker State High RPM oil but Quaker State stopped making it last year. I looked after my mustang for me, there will be no other owner..period. If you want to improve your engine life change the fuel filter at least once a year. When I buy a 2011 next year the 2005 will be stored.

I've always stayed away from Castrol. I have a report by Consumers Reports who tested many oils but couldn't get a contant sample from any Castrol oil as they don't actually make any oil, they just resell everyone else's oil. So in one sample you could be getting oil from differing sources all with varying specs.

At the risk of appearing disrepectful... I'm not trying to be... but if you drive so few kms why have the car?? A car is meant to be driven and enjoyed.
I changed the oil for the first time 1 month ago on the snake and the odo has 1300 kms. By next Apr when I change it again the odo will have moved approx 700 kms to a total of 2000k's. For me with the limited k's I change it once per year and I'm comfortable with this.

... ohhh boy, I think the snake is about to bite. I'm guessing SNAKEBITE is meeting with Apocalypse Pony right now planning his retort. I'm thinking it might go something like this: (kidding of course). Speaking of Apocalypse Pony, what ever happened to that guy?

Why have the car is a good question and not to be disrespectful because I'm not but it goes like this. Mostly because I can I guess. My money (and the wife's) so I will spend it on anything I choose to I suppose. Other than that

I usually go with what the vehicle manufacturer recommends. Its fine to want to perhaps mod the vehicle but oil is not something I am willing to play with. If you still have a manufacturers warranty on the vehicle or an extended service plan it might be adviseable to stick to the recommended oil.
