S197 grill swap
#14
I had the honeycomb centre fog grille for awhile but found that cleaning it at shows would take as long as the entire rest of the car (bugs pile up in the corners of the honeycomb). I finally swapped it out for the "front screen door/tacky " variety because that one takes all of two seconds to detail.
For quick reference (picture repost), this is what my current grille looks like (has matching lower to cover the intercooler rad):

Chill out dude - you can think my grille is tacky all you want. I'm pretty sure that opinion is in the minority but probably not unique. I've had three different grilles on my car to see which was best for both form and function and settled on the "screen door" version for the reasons posted. Of all the mods I've done, if someone has a negative comment it's usually the 20" wheels, some don't like the underhood shiney parts, you're the first on the grille. It's all good - if we all had the same tastes the car hobby would be pretty boring.

yep to each his own. i do like that grill klaw, its not too bad. and i know what you mean about the detailing. i have a powerball mini, cut to a point just for that honeycomb, and a few other spots.
on a seperate note, one thing i wanna try this winter, with a a set of aftermarket oem style headlights, it remove the clear plastic, and try to retro fit an h4 lens in where the actual head light is now. i am wondering how this would look, and with the black plastic inside, painted to match the car. as long as i can retain the adjuster mechanism, it should be pretty cool. i havent seen any one make a set in the aftermarket, and i thought maybe a retro 60's headlight might be cool. or am i high?
