I will soon be looking for summer tires. My summer wheels are a set of 17" rims that came off a 02 GT (so 17" x 8" size ? ). Stock size is of course 245/45/17, but what's the widest I can get on the wheel without looking stupid, completely messing up my odo/speedo or taking forever to sqeeze them on?
On a related note, anyone selling a good set of summer's in Nova Scotia?

My fronts are 255/45/17s. It took a while for me to get used to the 45s upfront and the 40s out back. In my twisted mind
the front profile was huge compared to the back, but I see many cars this way and now it does not bother me anymore. 3 trips to the head shrinker took care of this. :laughhard

When in doubt you can always use this tool
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
You'll notice that 245/45s and 275/40s have the exact same diameter and wont affect your speedo reading one bit
