So, with the "screwdriver to the ear stethoscope test" you can and do get a transferrance of squeek through to the water pump (and think the water pump is bad) it is actually the camshaft position sensor or sometimes called the camshaft syncronizer.."

No final answer on the whine (heard and saw another 'Stang of similar vintage with same noise); next question -
before applying rust proofing, how difficult is it to remove and replace after the two plastic panels attached to both the side and underbody of the car? I see, so far, two screws and many plastic rivets.
