Shout out to all the fellow Mustang owners! My rid's a little older. 1970 Fastback with a 351W.
Dragged up from California this Frankenstein project looks cool on the outside but came with it's share of problems.
Not a numbers matching car by ant means and was running off the battery when I got it.
Interior was in pretty good shape though.
I'm a backyard mechanic but I've been doing it for about 30 years now.
Got this one about 7 years ago now and it's running but there are issues I need help with which I'll ask later.

Take a peek. I'll post more pics later.

More about my fastback.

So I mentioned earlier that the car is not numbers matching. When I decoded the VIN I found that it originally came with a 250 in line 6.
The interior also suggests it was a base model car. The dash was swapped out for the deluxe dash but that's the only deluxe component.
The clock above the glove box is not there, the door skins don't have the wood grain and the center console was missing.
Frame is in excellent condition. Both rear aprons have been replaced as has one of the front quarters. Paint was apparently done in '84 and the body sat for a long time before it was finished.
Interesting to note - the side marker lights were removed. Apparently a popular thing to do in California.

There are a few mysteries about the car that I'm hoping someone might comment and solve.

The car now has a 351W. The entire code is F4TF-6015-AA which I believe means that the block was manufactured in 1994 and that it originally came out of a truck.
The original 2bbl carb was swapped out with a 4bbl Edelbrock 650 cfm.
Distributor was swapped out with with an MSD Streetfire with coil. Saved me from playing with points at the beginning of the season.

I'm assuming since the block came out of a '94 truck that it was converted from fuel injection to carbureted. Has anyone gone the other way and put fuel injection on a carbureted 351W? I'm interested..

Having some trouble with the power steering at the moment. I popped the main pressure line from the pump to the rack. I bought a line for a 1970 Mustang with a 351W but it doesn't fit.
Does anyone know if the same pump was used on all the blocks? My original thought was he used the pump from the 250 but the line doesn't look the same.
I searched all around Brampton and Mississauga to find a place that could make one but was unsuccessful. Part of the line is rubber which makes it difficult.
That''s what you get though when you inherit someone else's project car.

Also looking for someone that might have some of the measurements for the front suspension. Front passenger side is 1" higher than the driver side if you measure from the ground to the hood. Took the car in to be laser aligned and the frame is straight.
The strut-rod on the passenger side though has been completely adjusted in while the other side only half way. Also the front valance and bumper aren't lining up right. I'll take some suspension pics and see if anyone can find Waldo haha.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Now that the car is running I'm getting in to the details and fixing what I can.

About the only thing I can chime in on is the fuel injection. I hear good things about these kits

I may be wrong but I don't think a 70 would have had a factory rack and pinion. Maybe it has a Mustang II setup in it?
