How fast is your car?

Well.... how fast is it?

NXGHOST 02-09-2005 12:25 AM

Just fast enough to have fun, slow enough not to break parts! LOL. This is the first time in my life I didnt rip part my car over the winter. Its just sitting there all nice any shiny waiting for nice weather! LOL

BlueGT 02-09-2005 01:42 AM

13.9 before...we'll see how she goes with the VT engine, cams and all the bolt ons :tup

BIZ 02-09-2005 08:02 AM

Scones 02-09-2005 08:18 AM

I was thinking I'd push mine off a cliff...but the paper sounds like it would cause less damage... :laughhard

Stang6589 02-09-2005 02:26 PM

What a waste of money! We both pay the same to race but I get to stay on the track longer! I get 13 seconds at a time, you only get 9.68! LOL

It's all about the quality of time Chris, not quantity. :tup

Now that you said that, something will break.

SirChirpAlot 02-10-2005 01:04 AM

Was not happy with my car last year at the track,
13.4 @ 105 with the car going all over the place in all gears.

Made for a funny vid's when car hooks then spins hooks in 2nd and snaps wheels off the ground only to have front end come back down just as fast a it went up and spin tires again. 3rd gear spinning and 4 gear chirping away.
Tires were ET drags 28/10.5s
No pass's on the bottle and what would have been the point.

Car now has 3 way struts up front drag shocks out back,
South side lift bars, frame is done. Bring on the spring bottle is still full

largeman 02-10-2005 05:45 AM

wow sounds like some serious suspension issues there..
you sure you were heating up the hides enough...spinning et drags in third:confused:

i am gonna agree here. Something is wrong. cars with more power are not having that problem. How many psi you runnin in those etdrags? 32psi?

SirChirpAlot 02-10-2005 09:26 AM

We had a few probs,
Frist off started at 15psi and went all the way down to 10 doing 1 psi drops at a time. Found at 12.5 in driver and 13 in the pas to be the best.

What we found out after we had the car at the shop was the passanger side strut was blown. The car drove fine on the street with one good and one bad.
That explaned the front end falling flat on its face and unloading the rear wheels.

Other prob was heating the tires,
Day we were there i was pushing the fronts tires when i was trying to warm up the rears. A few other cars having the same prob. Even with line lock i tryed 1st and 2nd gear for burnouts and would push the front tires.
best short of the day was 1.7

On the street the car would spin like a bugger short shift into 2nd and still spin. After strut and shocks and springs went it turns into a difrent car.
Even in winter with normal tires i hook better then last summer so the car should run 13 flat on the motor. Not bad for big old Cougar with mild 351W.

Shot of spray and the car should be well into the 12s.
Thats more then fast anuf for a daily driver.

largeman 02-10-2005 10:51 AM

ahhhhh....that sounds better...i was wondering what was going on there...glad to hear its fixed... :tup

SirChirpAlot 02-10-2005 12:11 PM

also lost that motor too,
right after last day at the track i thought i had a headgasket gone.
Found out that one piston lost the top ring and had wore 42thou into the block,

Needless new motor has the same cam and topend but the bottom end is a tad bit better. As for KB pistons well ya they suck ass.

11.78@119 in my 04 Cobra Test mule last year with bolt ons and Nitto's Factory blower and 14psi.
Her Evil twin went 11.68@118 Stoopid ET Streets

5PointOHNO 02-12-2005 01:34 PM

12.3 on the 150 shot with no nitrous in 3rd or 4th... only trapped 106 :bleh:

I imagine high 11's on the 150 shot, mid(ish) 11's on the 200 shot. Stock motor, fat driver, meh, what ya gonna do?

Schlodes 02-12-2005 06:37 PM

Best so far is 12.301 @ 111.05 MPH, 1.74 60'. I ran that at St Thomas when they re-opened for that one last chance before winter deal on November 7th, and there was basically NO track prep... as in, you want water fer a burnout get out and spray with the hose :tup get back in, and proceed.

I did run my buddy in his Grand National that day and I cut a 1.71 and I had him by half a car all the way down we were stuck like that, then I missed 4rth [WHO misses 4th??] like a dumbass and he ran a 12.25 @ 110 MPH. :bleh: Almost dont count tho LOL so 12.30s

Goal this year is to squeak an 11.9xx out of it on the stock shortblock and cam, no power adders. A good 1.6 60' would almost put me there now with 111 MPH, and then once it does that... add some happy air [probably EFI plate kit] and try for a 10.90 on the stock bottom and cam.

5PointOHNO 02-12-2005 11:09 PM

^Wow, what heads are you running? How light did you get your Coupe?

Damn, I wish I was a skinny guy LMAO... 3680LB Race Weight. But still mustered a 1.62 60', my 1/8th mile translated into a 11.90... I hope to run 11's nest season :chacha:

1low03gt 02-13-2005 09:09 AM
