Just a update with my S197

Well last month I went to Milan dragway for the NMRA race at Milan. I ended up coming 3rd in the superstang class so I was happy about that. The car ran a best of 12.04 @116 mph to date. Since then Ive gone to cayuga and ran a bunch of 12.1 passes. My sport line springs and stock suspension are killing me so Qa1 suspension has been ordered.

Very close to my goal and Im not changing my set up until I hit a 11 second pass with a stock long block S197 :P

GT500's, Termy's bring the noise! :chacha:

gfong 07-13-2009 04:13 PM

What have you got done to your car? I am guessing all bolt ons, some suspension? Nice times!

Yep all bolt on's knocked off 300lbs out of the car, Upr lower controls arms, k-member kit etc etc, I have a pretty big build sheet

Car weighs 3240 with me in it and makes 315hp at the wheels

That's awesome!!It's amazing what a little homework, and trial, and error will do!You give hope to the S197 GT corwd. :tup
What gear are you running out back?

SNAKEBITE 07-13-2009 07:09 PM

Nice job. I have seen a GT500 run 10.54 which seems alright. I have a buddy doing the bolt on thing only and he has run a best of 13.1 at Race City Calgary (3500 ft) He still has some work to catch you:laughhard

Yes sir  It's almost un heard of with a 4.6. I love going to the track (like I said on the other boards) "What blower do you have!?" "I don't"

"But my GT500 is only running 13's!?"

:chacha:

I know the GT you are speaking of.
There is a 2787 foot difference between Milan and Calgary so I suspect that the car you speak of is going to run pretty close to the same times at each track especially a motor only pass. I know my car is a full second faster at Mission than it is at Calgary which is about the same altitude difference.

Stang Illusions 5.0L 07-15-2009 10:19 PM

WTF.....that is unherd of!

That car MUST see the dyno 24/7, Diago probly has that SOB dialed right in eh? lol

Man nice work! Can't wait for more updates..

the car has had many dyno runs lol many. I test alot of parts for this thing. Im so pumped to get the Qa1 stuff on this beast. If I dropped a tenth or two I would be happier then pigs n :chacha:

If I hit a high 11 this year im aiming for high 10's next year

I just viewed my post and I was unclear as to who ran what time. The 13.1 is a friend who has an 06 Mustang GT not a GT500. The work you are doing is amazing as he is starting to pound his head on the wall trying to find more speed. Out at Milan (we both are from Windsor now in Calgary) we suspect he might be running a 12.7-12.8 as the elevation is approx 3000 feet higher out this way. Again congrats on the time for a n/a car:tup:tup

I was at TMP with Matt back in May and it goes real good... :tup

Wouldn't you rather the UPR's "STUFF"....Assuming "STUFF" means K member, A arms etc....

I have the Racecraft k-member , a-arms and motor mounts up front. Upr didn't make a k-member kit then nor do they now :( I run the upr rear lower control arms :tup

I run the BMR antiroll bar out back, again upr hasn't come out with one yet.

here is the rear suspension as of right now without Qa1 stuff in there

Attachment 20966

I still have to get...
Race craft upper control arm
Comp engineering adjustable pan hard bar and pan hard bar brace

Stang Illusions 5.0L 07-21-2009 06:35 PM

God damn look at the rear setup in that car!!!! Lookin nice Matt!

No wonder why it hooks so well, did you have much trouble getting it dialed in?

Matt D 07-21-2009 06:59 PM

Thing is I just added the bmr antiroll bar lol I went a 1.60 sixty foot with only conrol arms! lol with sport line springs. Im still dialing in the anti roll bar with the new qa1 shocks it should be in the 1.5 sixty foots :)

Stang Illusions 5.0L 07-21-2009 07:13 PM

Damn thats good!!!

Well I have put a new suspension set up from qa1 and a ford racing intake manifold. In 40 degree weather I managed to click off a 12.06 @ 113mph which is my fastest time at cayuga! I went best of 12.04 @ milan dragway with cool weather

Anyway here are some highlight pics

Nice car man!

Thats awesome you're getting it done N/A.

There is a pretty wild 90 Coupe out here is Alberta that N/A as well.

He may or may not be on this forum.
He just ran a 9.52@139 out in Misson this past weekend in his SBF.

He won the Enduro (5 Hot Laps) event, as well as his class.

No as far as I know Matthew is not a member here but his accomplishments are nothing less than wonderful with his N/A Fox. Here is a video of his 9.52 run (@142).

Another small update

Well I went to St thomas last week. I changed the rear springs for the track to ford racing springs from my sportlines and it is wayy more consistant and doesn't bounce around anymore.

I went 12.0's like nine times in a row. My best of 12.01 @ 113mph with a 1.58 sixty foot! Im going to the S197 shoot out at rockingham dragway Nov 1 so I hope to hit my 11's there :P

Have you tried the stock V6 spring yet? I am told this is a good spring to try and cheap too. I have this in mine (of course it is a V6) and I am getting consistent launches with the car with 1.9's (Mission BC) and 2.0's in the high altitudes with my 4.0 V6 and an auto tranny.

No need to try them, I had my best sixty foot ever with the ford racing ones.. 1.58 sixty foot with only 3xx hp lol with a 3 link suspension :chacha:

1low03gt 10-13-2009 06:53 PM

That is sweet!!Especially at the St.Thomas Dragway!

menna 10-14-2009 09:09 AM
