Not to high jack the thread but anyone have experience with the Motive 3.90 ratio?

Seeing that you have an '01 Cobra,nothing less then a 4.10 for sure.
I often wonder why 3.90's were created in the first place when gear topics come up."It's almost a 4.10,but almost a 3.73".....:banghead:
Don't get me wrong,and i'm not trying to sound like an ass.
Since i've been there like most accross north america that have had different gears with the "Modular" motor.Anything under the 4.10 is a waste.The modular engine needs gear since it is a reving motor,and makes crap for torque down low.
I can understand if someones 4.6 is equipped with a blower,or some sort of power adder,and wants 3.73's to keep traction issues to a minimum,but N/A,the 4.6 needs gear.:wink:
I will tell you this.My 4.10 equipped 4.6 GT is tamer then a 5.0 with 3.73's,what i mean is that a 5.0 with 3.73's is still torquier.
Many of us accross north american have wasted our hard earned money on 3.73's or anything lower then 4.10's,plus install,and wished we had gone to 4.10's or higher,and wished we listened to those that have "told us " LOL!
I know next year i might be planning to go 4.30's.Since my GT is cammed,with a ported Bullitt intake,she has more room for more gear.And from my research on "Modular Mustang" pecific web boards,lots of guys with full bolt on modular stangs are happy they made the jump to those babies LOL!:biggrin:

Not bad,my GT has had the 3.27,then 3.73,now 4.10's,and next year 4.30's.It's an addiction LMAO!!:confused:

I agree. If you are looking for a fluffy daily driver with great (read low) RPM's and Gas Mileage then stay with a 3:31 and don't waste your money on anything less than a 4:10.

This is my first "mod motor" (previous big block Chevelle, small block Vega, big block Mopar) so being old (and old school!) it's just hard to wrap my brain around ratios that low for street/hwy. :redface: Vega was geared 4.11 so that is what my little brain remembers:LOL: Thanks for the input, next spring will bring 4.10s I think.

I totally understand where you are coming from.With the Ford modular,you need to unlearn everything you have learned in the past to relearn the new technology today like the modular Ford small block.They both opperate in different rpms when it comes to hp,and torque. :wink:

Just last night,my buddy,and i were out cruisin',we both have 4.10's,but his is a 5.0,he was in 4th at 1500 rpm roughly doing the speed limit,and i was in 3rd at 1500 rpm beside him.
Just goes to show the difference.
And no prob's.I'm sure you will enjoy.Next year i'm bumping my GT's rear diff to 4.30's for sure. :)

32mpg? I don't think that is accurate. I have a few friends from canada and they always seem to figure out the MPG the wrong way. All of there cars are super good on gas. I have a buddy with a corolla who thinks he does 50mpg. Corollas don't get 50. I don't think your GT gets 32 either. If so, I want one of those.
