T-5 Borg Warner "Problems".....

Ok guys my car has been having some wicked vibrations I cant even go over 110km/h??? It gets so bad I cant even hang onto the shifter it was/is that bad!!

I put the car on the hoist today and did a oil change.
So I thought hum since I have it up in the air WTF is up with this vibration BS! I thought it was the driveshaft so I was grabbing ahold of it and twisting it and all the other stuff you would normally do to try and find a problem...

Once I grabbed onto the driveshaft near the Tail stock of the transmission it was flopping around....

Is there a bearing or a shim near the end that is pouched? is it hard to replace?
Thanks fellow members for the help

Keith.

i would wait till you have your new gears and new driveshaft in.

you also said your dogbone is gone, don't know if that would affect anything.

Dogbone? you mean that useless weight on the rearend? that is just a dampner "Dead weight"
I am just trying to figure this out so when I do rip the car appart I have an idea on what is going on.
But since there is no help on the board im just gonna bring it to a friend and have a look at it.

there is a bushing in the tail stock of the trans if this is the problem you will need to remove the trans to replace it it is pressed in to the case and you will need to press it out from the inside out this will require you to dissmantel the trans at least the rear housing anyway

What i was getting at is, seeing you want to get the gears done before you do the motor, is you might as well do the driveshaft at the same time. see if the fixes the problem, so you are possibly not wasting money on something that does not need to be fixed.

Well when it was on the hoist the other day you could grad the DS and move i around, the tranny shop said its common if the ujoints are siezed.....OR somethin is giving off to much vibrations.

I went the the Tranny shop and they said its about a $20 part and if I bring the tranny to them it'll cost about $30.00 for them to put it in.

I guess they make a special puller for Chev and Dodge so you can do it with the tranny in he car, but apartently Ford doesnt have one!!!
