i believe the 4inch shaft may be the culprit.they probably designed the loop for stock dia. shaft.i bought the 3.5 inch shaft from shaftmaster.

What in gods name do you need a loop for? As far as I understand you are not drag racing, you do not turn enough power to require it, if you were drag racing you don't have the diff for it with a 7.5 so it just becomes added weight. Worry about a loop when you drag race with sticky tires and change to an 8.8 diff otherwise sell it to the next guy.

sweet,to the point and very accurate.at this point a loop is a waste of money and effort.also if it keeps hitting the new shaft you can damage it .it doesn't take much to put them out of balance.i would take it off.

problem solved. turns out it was the brace for the loop vibrating against my exhaust somehow. sounded absolutely terrible.
test drive today all is as it should be. :)
The loop may be an added unnecessary piece, but comes recommended by most.
I can add that in 2005 I did 3 somersaults in my Jeep (end over end landing on the roof) so really not looking to have any reasons to repeat that ride!!

If I wasn't such a procrastinator, I'd have one on mine. A driveshaft loop is like insurance... You only need it if things go bad, but knowing it is there, should you need it, gives some peace of mind.

I'm surprised how well the Liberty stood up to that crash.

glad you got it sorted out.rest assured though with the hp you are making you will never break that shaftmaster.piece of mind though after your ordeal.i would have one two after an accident like that.

SNAKEBITE 08-16-2011 05:55 PM

damn and wow re accident.

thunderbolt 08-18-2011 06:49 PM

yeah Jeep stood up well to the crash.."and we walked away with a couple of bruises"

hiway #23 just 'bout 1/2 way between Mitchell and London

i changed the 3:31 rear in mine for 3:73's and love the extra punch at the start and hwy it revs like 500rpm more the the old gear

roddy 09-05-2011 07:16 AM

I bet those 3.73s are a good match for the revvy nature of the new V6.
