LMFAO. |
Engine swap (to a V8) or forced induction will give the best results, but can be pretty spendy. A swap to a 4.2 V6 from an F150 will also work well. I was going to suggest a split port head swap, but I just noticed you have a '99, so you've already got 'em. An intake manifold swap from a Windstar van is supposed to be worth a few H.P..
IIRC, there is a lengthy thread in the V6/2.3 tech section that you may find helpful. I'll see if I can dig it up. |
Crap, I searched through 5 pages before I realized it was a sticky, lol. here... https://www.cmoc.ca/v6-2-3l-24/craft...d-sorta-12920/

thanks for the help roddy I was thinking of v8 swap maybe from a 99 4.6 or the corba svt motor

Motor swaps are an option. You can still make decent power be installing a supercharger or if you spend a little more.... A turbo. :) your 3.8 would be plenty fun with a supercharger and a set of gears out back :)

No offense intended dude, I just thought how it was funny that you went from a really really small mod like a chip, all the way to the other extreme of swapping to a V8. There's a lot of ground in between.

Can't go wrong with a procharger :)

oh ok... and ya I know that's a big difference but I was seeing what some guys opions were on the forms from guys that have more experencie and knowdgle then I do.. I was seeing it if was even worth it to turbo v6... or go all out with v8 swap
Not sure on the turbo gains but a super charger will put you in the range of a tuned 4.6 around 325 or so. Will the bottom end support boost? It will for a time. When it lets go you will be looking at a good bill to build a forged bottom end for your V6. What about the rear end? Well you will have an 8.8 I believe but no posi trac and some big gears at least 331s. You will want to get some 410s or 373 (i would go to 410 with this HP) and a posi. What about stopping it?? Brake upgrade. Now suspension. You will have wheel hop now have to deal with, so upper and lower control arms. You will want to get rid of the 4X4 look Springs, bumpstear, Shocks and struts (if there stock from 99 they are toast and were not that good to start with). Rims and Tires you are not going to hook on stock tires You will have a car that will surprise the hell out of a stock mustang GT. Mind you I have spent close to 10K of your hard earned money. I would just enjoy the 99 Stock and wait to put that sort of coin into a GT. Your car and 10k will put you into good GT. A good GT and 10k will be one badass car. again just my 5 cents |
