Its not just the looks you need to consider! its all the above but roots is the best I dont care what anyone says......unless you can rev at 10000 rpm then its a tuff call.

Do you no what the differances are? Do you know when the boost starts between the two of them? Have you seen the price differance? LOL big $$$$ for KB.

read every page of this site about 10 times....not sure how many out there are on 96-98 4.6l

http://www.kennebell.net/supercharge...2v/gt96-04.htm

pros IMO
comes with a new intake manifold
looks so freakin sweet
no need to relocate your battery
no tapping the oil pan
serious power right from the tap of the pedal
blower whine = bonerville

cons
price - it ain't cheap
tune - gotta make sure you go to someone who knows how to tune a KB...which we luckily have in Southern Ont.

You really can't go wrong with the Kenne Bell SC. As mentioned in a previous post, his website provides a wealth of information so read it a few times. I run a intercooled Allen Kit on my car which is a positive displacement SC similar to a KB.

The postive displacement SC's make HUGE torque. It is hard to describe but here goes: I have no kick-in boost when I'm driving, it simply feels like there is a bigger engine under the hood. With the way it drives, my car is actually faster than it feels. I knew it was fast but I didn't expect it to run mid 12's on street tires with an automatic and 9lbs of boost. With slicks, high 11's are in the future (I hope).

3000 for the tuner kit (no inj/maf/pump) from a dealer in calgary. plus tune/install if needed.

KB are heat pumps even intercooled. they do provide alot of low end torque

2000BLKGT

You get blower whine with any blower.
Procharger : No tapping oil pan
No need to relocate battery unless you are using Vortech Aftercooler. A simple sheet metal intercooler will do with a centri. blower.

blah blah blah blah blah....yeah KenneBell blowers are pieces of and nobody should buy them ZZZ:

centrifugal blowers whine at idle and are pretty much quiet up in the rpms....PD blowers are the opposite....am I wrong here???

with regard to Procharger....I've never researched the brand....Vortec/Paxton seems to be the idiot-proof way to go on the 4.6l for a centrifugal.

I simply offer my input on price because I think encouraging someone to do a blower install for $3k is irresponsible.....yeah....some can pull it off.....but promoting it as a no sweat project....you're asking for a wake up call

"3000 for the tuner kit (no inj/maf/pump) from a dealer in calgary. plus tune/install if needed.".....BTW....new prices of injectors are what $500-$600 for a set.....$300-$400 for a MAF....$200 for a pump.....and a tune "IF NEEDED"....dude.....you are thinking the wrong way about this....safety costs money.....dyno time isn't free.....chips cost $500.....tuning costs vary....suffice to say, the more time, the more money.....and if you bolt together some junk yard set up.....have fun tuning it quick

Anytime you compress air, heat is created. It's a by-product of compression. It's basic science 101. If you've ever seen a Vortech with 9lb's of boost being datalogged on the dyno, the IAT are around 200 degrees. The only way to cool the heated incoming air is through intercooling.

There is 3 types of intercooling: air-to water, air to air, or chemical intercooling.

Getting back to the original thread:

If your SC'ing a 98GT, the major restriction is the intake manifold. Therefore a positive displacement SC would be ideal since the plastic intake is removed.

Based on personal experience, I would look for a "complete kit" which includes everything you need for the install. Mine was a complete kit so I saved myself $1500 by installing it myself in the garage.

I am in no way saying KB's are pieces of . I have heard that the produce more heat than a centri blower.

All superchargers have pros/cons, bottom line.

With regards to tune/install if needed. I am not dumb, i know a tune is needed, i was referring to have it installed by someone.

you can get a set of injectors plus a maf used for a few hundred dollars you just have to look in the right places.

i dont want to get in a pissing match here so, lets just all have fun with our winter time mods.

what about whipple chargers anybody got anything to add on them? ive heard good things
but thats mostly through magazines does anybody have or had one? thumb:

yellowgt02 11-24-2006 01:02 AM

I dont think whipple has made a supercharger for the 4.6/2v engine.

They have a new one for the 3v, and 4v.
