Nice Mustang. I have a real issue of trying to figure out why owners do not drive their cars on rainy days. Snow and ice I can understand. With the many protective coatings that are added to the sheet metal at Flat Rock (2005-2015) it is doubtful that rain is going to seriously affect any part of the vehicle.
The Okanagan Mustang Association held a cruise (if you can call it that - 3 vehicles) this past Saturday one of the members had his Honda Pilot in the Group rather than his '68. His view was that it might rain later in the day. Turns out there was no rain on the cruise. I'll be damn if rain is going to hold me back from driving either Mustang.

Some of us have a big investment in our cars and want to keep the resale value as high as we can. I try not to get caught in the rain, but if I do I wash it ASAP. I not scared to drive mine and do take it out in the spring and fall when the roads are dry. I even drive it in the winter to head south, but I wash it very time I stop for the night to get the crap off my investment. We have seen this in one of my threads of my trips down south. Keeping it clean and dry is key.
This sale is an example of why someone would look at his Mustang. Never winter driven or rain.
Car manufacturers are in this to sell cars and their coating will only last so long and will wear out with all the wear and tear of driving. If they did make them to last they would be out of business. So as an owner of an investment I want to keep it that way and the manufacturers would prefer us not too.
Just my thoughts on this......

Holy jeez, I totally missed that little detail, good eye. How can you go that many years with only 11 posts? I sometimes get that before breakfast, and remember ol' Snakebite, he'd do 11 posts in under five minutes. lol

Ray, the real issue is that these cars melt in the rain. Any sign of damp weather and they start to oxidize and corrode under the lip of the hood.

I keep my car clean...it's just as clean under the hood as it is on top. If I get caught in the rain, that means hours and hours of detailing in, under, and around the car. I don't have that kind of time to invest, so I avoid the rain at all costs...if there is more than a 30% chance of precip, my car doesn't leave the garage. I got my car to enjoy driving it, and I don't enjoy driving it in **** weather. Yeah, I miss some meets, but I'd rather miss them than my sanity. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
