Need to wax the new Stang asap need advice

Unfortunately I don't have a garage so the car sits out in the weather 24/7 so I'm very concerned about uv protection and because I'm 55,ease of application is very important. I'm real confused about all the steps to wax a car,I'm from the day when you pretty much had Turtle wax as your choice. I currently wash the car with Meguiars Gold Class,microfiber mitt and dry with microfiber towels. The car is Kona Blue if that makes a difference. It also has a vinyl rocker panel stripe.
Step 1) Wash with Dawn soap - but ONLY do this once. It will strip any grease, or oil contaminents off and any old polish or wax. It is hard on the paint so once again only use Dawn once.
Step 2) Claybar - this will remove any rail dust or oxides that are on the surfica and will make it so smooth you won't believe it.
Step 3) Wash again using standard car soap to get claybar residue off.
Step 4) I'm a Zaino fan so I put two coats of Z2 car polish on it. After each coat I use their spray detailer. They have two, Z6 and Z8. The Z8 is for "special occasions" and a bit more expensive but both make the finish look amazing. With my black car it pretty much looks like a mirror when I'm done.
Zaino I find is has the best finish and more importantly the best protection bar none. It's not a wax, but a polish and protects better. I've had bird crap just spray off with the hose and bugs stuck to the front bumper just wipe right off with my wash mitt.
As for towels? I ust 100% cotton. The best one's I've found is at a fabric store and buy it off the role Better than buying bath towels at a department store. They can have starches and sizing in them. The micro fibre one's I've heard are excellent as well but I've never used them. I do use a microfibre wash mitt with LOTS of soap to reduce scratching.

Pretty decent write ups! I started with a wash first, dry with some nice microfibres. Clay bar, then a decent polish to get rid of those nasty spider web swirlies. Then perhaps a glaze/ paint sealant. Wax overtop of that. Mmmmm...

I think it's great when other fanatics post their ideas. Give the microfiber towels a try and I bet you pretty much give up on cotton. I have 17 large micro's now at 15.00 a pop=250.00 just on towels

I agree that both Miguires and Mothers are great products,
However, I have found that Turtle Wax Ice in liquid form is extremely easy to use, won't mark on black plastic trim, and even restores it to looking new. I would recommend this product to anyone.

So Sankebite, any tips on waxing with vinyl racing stripes? I'm thinking I will get a wax build up on the edge of the stripes. I have alot of light swirls including on the racing stripes. Can I polish/wax the stripes?
