I have never kept a stereo completely stock in any of my cars. Your shaker system probably has a component system mid woofer, as aCid stated, with a separate tweeter up top which is probably similar to my mach 460 system. The only thing I changed was the rears to stock sized infinity kappa's which sound amazing and complete the system along with a good set of subs in the trunk, which i have. Just change the rears for now and keep the shakers up front.. I'm sure you won't be dissappointed.

BTW.. I would never recomend JL Audio to anyone. Junk.

The speakers in the rear deck and the top door speakers are the same size coaxle. The lower ones are the subs. I replaced mind with Polk Audio ones. JL are suppose to be decent. I haven't heard any one complain about them. Anyways I got mind from Crutchfield.ca. If you go to their site make sure you put in the year and make, model etc and it will tell you what is compatible with your car and setup. If you buy from them they will include installation instructions and the adapter harness so you don't have to cut and splice.

I have a 05 GT that had the shaker 500. I took that piece of crap out pretty quick too. I believe that there is 8" subs and 5x8's in the doors and 5x8's in the back. 5x7's will probably fit as well. There is also an amp in each door for the 8's. I am pretty sure all the speakers are 6ohms as well. Which means you might have to special order speakers if you want to run the stock head unit. I highly suggest replacing everything if you want good sound quality. I currently have a pioneer double din touchscreen dvd player that puts out real good power at a good price. The stock head units are terrible at high volume for distortion. If you want better sound quality get rid of the shaker. I am currently still running stock speakers plus an alpine r15 with an alpine amp. When hooking up a aftermarket HU to the stock 8" amps, the turn on wire must have the voltage lowered. The stock amps in the doors run a 6V turn on unlike aftermarket units use a 12V turn on. I used a couple of "podi's"(variable resisters) to step down the voltage so they don't pop when turning on or off. I am using the built in HPF and EQ in the HU to give the 6 speakers only mids and highs and my sub for all the bass. Which helps those stock speakers from distorting so much. I have had JL's before and i was happy but i love alpine. Any aftermarket replacement of stock parts is better in this case but if you want real good quality and adjustablity I highly suggest getting rid of the shaker head unit. I have had many systems and no stock stereo I have heard ever heard comes close. I do have to say though, in my GT the sound out the back usually takes preference. Man I love those MagnaFlows!

We have a 06 V6 and a 07 GT. The shaker 500 in the V6 sucks. The shaker 500 in the GT is awesome it truly earns the title shaker. I do wonder why the V6 system suck though.

Changing the rear deck speakers alone may not bring an noticeable difference, but it will get rid of the voice coil rattle.

If you plan to outfit the car with a new system, go with some nice speakers. Morel, BA's and or even Polk Audios. No need to spend a fortune, but don't get the bottom of the line.

I have a few bucks into my 93's system (see sig) and all my other rides are almost all stock with the exception on head unit upgrades and even at that I have stopped upgrading on my new vehicles.
