TPMS Sensor's

I will be switching out the summer tires for winter tires soon (when needed). Was just wondering if it will affect/hurt anything if i run for the winter without the TPMS? I know there will be the annoying warning light on the dash, but other then that, will it do anything to the computer and such?

Also, what 17" size can i go with?

Thanks everyone

It will give you a light and a warning message will show up on the message center. It shouldn't hurt anything though. I'm not sure if 17" will clear the brakes or not but someone else will know I'm sure.

The base 13's look like they have 17 by 7 rims with 225/60/17 tires. What rim size did yours come with? I'd think that as long as the brakes are the same between the premium and the base you should be OK with 17x7".

I switch wheels/tires on my Ranger for winter...other than the warning light flashing on start up and staying on, no problems.

So according to ford canada the 17" tires that you can get on the v6 is 215/65/17. So i could price out that size for rim/tire combo for winter tires?

17" clears the base and upgraded V6 brakes no problem. As you surmised, 215/65R17 would be the best choice for winter tires, you want to have the narrowest option for the car.

cheers

I have fountain tire getting me a price on steelie rims and some goodyear ultra grip ice tires. If i want 18" x-ice tires im looking about $1250 (just tires on factory rims) installed plus 10% tax waiting to hear back from shop about tire rims set price.
